Fitted the kit yesterday. Installation took about an hour. A little adjustment was needed on the bended bracket (very little!) and on the body, but it was no problem.

I've driven around 150 km since installation and it works like a charm!

Thanks to everyone involved in producing this kit!

Well by my reckoning you should all have your kits now. Glad they all got out to you without incident and they seem to be fitting ok.

Its always a relief to hear that projects like this get a good reaction. Would be a real knightmare, after all the work involved, if the kits weren't any good and people didn't like them.

Gearchange on mine has always been REALLY sloppy, the kit has reduced the slop by shortening the amount of of movement, and made it feel much more "clicky" and positive...so I like it!

I seem to remember a few years back, well it was when AlfaOwner was just starting out so it must have been 10 years or more, the fad was to cut down the gearstick. Never really fancied that myself as you're not really solving the problem. So glad to hear that our solution is working out well.

Never quite got the cutting mod either, I felt that reducing the lever would just make changing gear harder!

Well, finally had confirmation that all the kits have arrived safely now. So its a big sigh of relief here that everyone got theirs, and those that have fitted them like the results.

    Well done everyone involved.

Glad this came up....it may prompt me to sort mine out. 3rd gear feels very notchy.
I also suspect the connection on the gearbox is a bit loose and worn as there is slop in the movement.

I have been thinking about this and looking on ePer (thank you Alfa Club, Slovenia) I don't actually think there are any bushings on the gearbox end?

I am going to change the oil tomorrow so will have a better look at everything then.

Well I was wrong, there is a rubber bush there which has worn on mine allowing a lot of free play. I didn't get a chance to check the other though.
Need to try and find the part number now...

    EDIT:
    I could do with these:

Dead easy to make...if you have the dimensions!

What are the symptoms...lots of movement/sloppiness in the gearlever positioning? If so I have the same problem

Pretty much that. Difficult the engage first gear too (kept getting third). I have bled the clutch since but not driven it.

I think once I have the dimensions of the part it will be something that can be sourced.
How would you go about making it? A project for your lathe?

Yes. The steel tube might be available off the shelf in the right size but failing that can easily be turned to size from something close.

If you get me some accurate sizes we can experiment.

That would be great. It will be a few weeks but firstly I have to do a complete brake service, all the belts and new rad on my JTS SW. That's then going off to my dad and his 156 1.6 SW is going to my sister for her initiation in Alfas.
