    Default Steering rack

    Hi,

I think i need a new steering rack, as i did a track day recently and found a BAD vibration when braking hard from over 100mph, only place i could find any movement was from drivers side end of the rack...

My question is: does the Q4 have a one-off rack or is it shared with any other 155.?

    Thanks.
    Mark.

Ps The Q4 just took us all the way to Spain and back without missing a beat,
a perfect 2,935 Miles in 11 days, only needed a litre of oil, well impressed

I know that my Q4 1995 WB has a so called quick rack.
It needs less steering to do the job.

I don’t know if this is mounted only on Q4 or on other 155 as well.

    Kind regards

Some 155 have a quickrack others don't. I think the quickrack was introduced with the WB, but it might have been an option or with an option pack since not all seem to have it...

In the tests I have seen, they quote the Q4 as having 2.9 turns lock to lock, which is slightly quicker than a standard 155. So it might be a 1 off rack, but I'm not certain of that.

yes its definately play in the rack,

so i just got to find a 2nd hand q4 steering rack then,,, hmmm that will be easy then,

i know the WB cars had the quick-rack cos my old t-spark did, but not the narrow cars.

anyone got the parts CD for the numbers?
that should show if it one-off or no? please.

Eper says the Q4 shares the rack with other 155 and 145/6 so just gety what takes your fancy... 2.0 or 3 turns

I'll make some calls next week, not promising anything though. Would you prefer a quickrack?
