    Default Gearbox and clutch

    Hi,

    I am putting the gearbox back on the engine, I am doing this on the floor not in the car, I need to know how to definately get the clutch pull bit to line up and attach with the forks, I have tried it a couple of times to just push it together and hope for the best, it feels ok, like its making the correct contact but I need to be certain before the engine goes back in the car.

    When I put it together I tried to turn the top lever using a ring spanner over the lever to move the clutch but it was too hard, should this be the case?

    Never put a gearbox back in myself, but from the look of those pictures the gearbox and engine wouldn't go back together properly if the forks weren't inserted correctly. The isn't anywhere else for them to sit, so it would make the gearbox stand clear of the engine.
    How big a spanner are you using? And is it an uprated clutch? It might take more force than you thing to turn it, and you are trying to turn it the right way aren't you? (that was a joke )

    Well, I did it by myself. Itīs not a piece of cake, but not imposible.
    Itīs really hard for me to explain it in english but Iīll try.
    You must conect the fork with the gearbox not alined, and once itīs in, youīll have to line up while you turn the top lever.
    And if the lever itīs hard, itīs ok. The problem would be if itīs soft, that means you missed. Remember you have an hydraulic clutch, so itīs hard to move with hand.

    So I finally decided to let a specialist change my clutch as I don't have the time (and interest) for it right now.
    The parts are already purchased (from Techniclutch).


    Is there anything else that should be replaced as well?

    With the gearbox already removed I mean. Gaskets, seals etc?

    Release bearing is a good idea.

    The bearing was delivered with the clutch/pressure plate so it will be changed.

    I was thinking about the first seal in the gearbox. Don't know what it's called... the very first where the axle meets the gearbox housing.

    Would it be possible to replace even the crankshaft seal at this moment?
