i was looking at them but wouldnt you have to disable the immobiliser if u have one, and the only thing stopping someone driving off with your car is a handbrake switch that lets it know to kill the engine. i want one myself but need to make sure its safe though.

I installed one today. You have to splice into the ignition wiring before the immobiliser does. Was still a bit trciky however, as the Alfa only has ACC and Ignition, whereas the gauge was set up for cars with three. So I had to splice both the ACC wires into the switched live (an orange wire.) I couldnt be bothered with the handbrake, so just spliced that into the earth.

If you turn it on the engine will continue to run until the timer reaches zero. I can't set my alarm with the engine running, as it bypasses it, but can still lock the doors manually then set the alarm after
