    Default 155 Q4 ECU Chip 10103 Different 10104

    Hello.
What is the difference between 10103 and 10104 chip. Does 10103 chip work on 10104 ecu in 1994 car? How does it work, vibrating?

    Hi,
I don't know exact answer to your question, but from what i have read the code in EEPROMs (chips) 101.03 and 101.04 is almost the same and in my opinion will be strange to not be like this. The ECUs have to be the same in practice although numbers on them will be different and I don't think that will be a issue or will have some noticeable difference between them, but haven't read about such change.

I haven't been looking in to it for over 10 years and was surprised by how many files I had .. many with almost the same name. What I could see is that they have the data on the same addresses, unlike the 101.05. I do not have the 101.04, but I think 101.04 and 101.05 are the same performance wise, so by comparing 101.03 and 101.05 I can see that:

    - RPM limits
    - Boost rpm break points
    - Throttle pos rpm break points
    - Maximum boost, temporary and constant
    - Boost vs TPS
    - Ignition
    - Ignition density distribution
    - Ignition rpm breakpoints
    - Injection timing with cam-shaft angle
    - Fuel enrichment
    - Injection map
    - Injection density distribution
    - Injection rpm break points

have the same values. Some maps are inverted and shifted half a row and so, but it looks like it is identical performance wise down to last decimal.

Well, since 101.04 and 101.05 cars are identical hardware wise, the 101.03 car differs by water spray on the intercooler and 101.03 and 101.05 have identical maps, I suppose the ECU dislike it having the wrong chip and goes into grumpy mode.

To further elaborate on the differences, the water spray doesn't do more than a high velocity would do to the intercooler. There is nothing in the ECU that needs to be changed to cope with either of those hardware configurations. It is all there, in both of them.
