New status update. The JE pistons arrived two weeks ago and we made the final plateau honing with the finest stone and the by JE prescribed cross hatch angle. Since the cylinders weren't damaged and the ovality + conicality was within the reach for the hone, we decided to not bore up to the next cylinder size (84,2), but spent the money on custom diameter pistons instad. Interesting fact is that cylinder 3 & 4 were 2 hundreds of a mm larger than cylinder 1 & 2. A bit annoying when you order pistons. From factory you have A, B, C, D and E size class to choose between, but aftermarket pistons come in tighter tolerances supposed to be the same for all four cylinders.

Actually a few more things has been done by now, but we take that when the pictures are uploaded

Made a quick stop at the workshop on my way home today. Enthusiastic after having borrowed a special tool to extract the flat pin females from the JPT contacts used for the injector wires and most sensors as well. Suddenly I managed to replace almost all the dried out rubber seals used on most cables under the hood. Next things on this topic are to order the seals for the two 7-pin ignition module contacts, which are ridiculously expensive, and to find out what kind of tool the brown IAT sensor contact wants to see to extract its pins. Really annoying that it is just almost the same as the other ones...

I also attach a picture showing the engine block after may dad special ordered that grey tone the block appeared to have. Either the coverage of the original paint was terribly poor (yes it was), or the grey color we got was much lighter (yes, maybe little).
