Lightbulb Big Brakes 166 Brembo alternative discs and calipers.

    Hello everyone!

A friend of mine discovered this nice mod, Fiat 500 Abarth brembo kit calipers and discs.
Calipers are the same on Mito QV and Fiat 500 abarth.
The adapter for the calipers i think is the same used (100mm bolt hole distance)
And its Plug and play with no modifications needed.
Brembo Brake discs Part Number: 09.B085.13 (can be used on a previous alfa 166 brembo big calipers Mod)

    Enjoy

Yes, I've been researching these calipers for fitting to another Alfa and found the MiTo/500 caliper fits on 155s (probably not the 1.8s though)...they are damned expensive but I've found a cheaper version

I also found a good alternative for brembos couple of years ago, unfortunately that project not happened back then but I am considering to do it in the near future

This caliper got a kit for our 284x22mm disc and will probably fit under most 15" wheels

That looks interesting @jNk how does the price compare to the 6 pot Brembos?

Would be nice to use a slightly larger disk though.

There were 2 types of (4pot) calipers couple of years ago; the T20 for 250-300mm disks and the T30x for 300mm+ disks but the T30x is not longer available although I think with the proper mounting bracket you can use the T20 with the 305mm disk.

The price is/was pretty good, here is the 2014 offer, i'll update it when got answer from the seller.

    (284x22mm kit) ~ £438.06+vat / (295.5x28mm kit) ~ £474.61+vat
    - 2x Lightweight WMS Billet CNC machined Aluminium 4-pot racing calipers
    - 2x Stainless steel CNC-machined caliper mounting brackets (to be revised soon)
    - 2x Vented 284mm x 22mm or 298.5mm x 28mm discs
    - 8x High tensile bolts with washers

If you already got bigger (than 284mm) disk and 16"+ wheels then I think the used 166/gtv brembo calipers are probably cheaper but at 15" I can't find a better off the shelf solution.

"The kits are direct replacement / upgrades for the standard brake setup but it may need bigger wheels than standard and might need wheel spacers depending on the wheel design...... 284mm kits in 15" and 298.5mm kits in 16" wheels are often ok. He has generated a PDF file showing the profile of each kit, the idea is you can print one, check it's 1:1 scale, stick it to card and cut it out - and offer it up to the inside of your wheels to see if the kit will fit!
