Default Alfa Sporting Saloons - with flat 4 engines

Just a thought, shoot me down in flames if needed, and no vested interest here honest guv!

Would it be worth having an Alfa flat 4 tech forum section?

From recent experience, I am finding them fascinating (33 specifically, but not limited to just 33s), and just the same as trans-ax and Q4, they represent a very interest technological and engineering part of Alfa's history.

I think they deserve a place on this esteemed forum (and I might use it a bit more as have been quiet on the 75 and 155 front on here as 155 is resting waiting for a belt change, and 75 doesn't really have anything wrong with it at the minute and is on the road and running luvverly!!)

I've got no problem with that if other people want it as well.

5 33s at the minute, with hopefully 1, and maybe 2 more on the way over the summer, but probably going to strip 1 and sell another when it is a bit more tidied up.

    List is currently:

    - Pink P4 - This is the one I may strip as it needs too much spending to make it look nice, but has a very good interior and drivetrain. One cambelt gone so engine is spares as well
    - White P4 - Will need some tidying and a bit of bodywork next year, but a pretty sound example
    - Series 2 SW Cloverleaf - Immaculate except for NS rear quarter. Will replace that this summer and give this a good tidy as it is an excellent and rare example
    - L reg 1.7 i.e. Turismo. Not decided what to do with this one yet. It is rust free but has a few dinks and dents to tidy up. As a limited edition late series 3 its not worth a huge amount but is a very rare model. Going to get a dent specialist in to get it tidied, and maybe pop a recaro and nardi interior in
    - M reg 16v (just bought) Love this car and have been driving it the last few weeks. Its immaculate and drives well. Will be doing some brakes work, gearshift, and a little fettling in the next few weeks ready to take it to Mallory in July. Still deciding a longer term plan, but might put the P4 drive train from the pink car in this one longer term (but then again, might not, as the nimbleness of the 2WD set-up is pretty awesome)

    - I am hoping for a series 3 SW from up north fairly soon, and there is another late 16v I know of that I have an interest in as well (but is a bit of a long shot at the minute)

Some people said I am mad, but I just can't see why

I find the fact that Alfa produced this off beat engine for so long alongside their other models very interesting, and the whole ethos of the car from Sud through Sprint to 33 kind of maps a big part of Alfa's history. There is also some racing history in there as well which I need to investigate.

So, pop a section in, and I will get it started with some posts on what I get up to over the summer on my 33s, and some research into the racing heritage of the flat 4 engine.

Alrighty chap, tell you what, I'll create a flat 4 section and make you moderator of it. It will give you some weight and Kudos in the section, and you'll be free to do with it what you wish. Within reason of course

    No problem.

If anyone else has any ideas for the Forum or would like to take a more active role in moderating one of the technical forums and promoting them, then please drop me a pm or email.

    Cheers guys.

I think Suds are welcome on any forum. They are an itch I've not yet scratched, but I'm sure I will one day.
