I'm currently stuck at home with a trapped nerve in my hip, and as of today slightly spaced out as Santa came early this morning (disguised as my doctor) and left a big bag of happy pills.

With only the internet, dogs and a few books to keep me sane I thought I'd start an iconic photos thread, motoring related prefered, but anything goes.

I'll start off with one of the coolest pics ever.

Followed by a pic from back when racing drivers were heros.

Are the Lancia ones taken before or after lunch? We all know the homologation inspectors got taken for a long liquid lunch whilst the cars were moved around the factory.

Oh and the Shinyo Sawako pic is of the Tug trying to connect a line, the SS had already hit and sunk the fishing boat when the pic was taken.

Wrinx/anyone, do you remember a set of shots (which is floating around on the 'net somewhere) of a ship building engineering shop somewhere in or near Tyneside? Can't seem to find them and there are some great shots on there.

That looked like part of the crank to me. Just goes to show what the UK used to be able to do.
