    Default 155 Q4 balance shaft oil channel detection and canceled.

    Hi guys.
    Today we made plugs ​​from 7075 aluminum to cancel balance shaft oil channels.
    My mechanic ,how to detect oil channel, the video below explains how to cancel these channels.I will also add subtitles english version as soon as possible.
    Balancing shaft oil will increase oil pressure by canceling channels.

    Isnīt this the same thing that are available in the shop "balanceshaft removal kit", why make them yourself when they are already a kit for this?

    Brave doing something like this from scratch rather than just buying a kit, but by working out yourself whats needs doing, and then figuring out the way to do it you are going to get a much better understanding of the engines oil system.

    On TS turbo cars we do the same, but carefully tap the holes and turn in a bolt with loctite and the head cut off(or gripscrew). There are standard welch plugs that fit the holes in the TS block. No need to make plugs.

    On the Q4 you need a pulley on a bearing for the belt??

    yes, bearing for the belt is needed.. In my case you can see allen screw with which is oil channel closed..

    Or get a mark one short block.

    It has a slightly different oil channel layout and no casting for balance shafts. block is considered more durable then the mark 2 which had balance shafts.

    This all had to do with different piston cooling jet layout and lack of balance shafts.

    The mark one could be found in the delta 8v integrale, old croma Turbo I.E., Alfa 164 Turbo 8V.

    I bought 3 complete engines for 250 euro each before finding out they the same engine familly as the turbo 16v engines. Just need to swap pistons and head.

    This one ended up in my croma

    What oil were you using and what is the engind from exactly? I had a 1986 Croma turbo engine but it had a different turbo.

    I use 10w40 oil and the turbo is from a 91 Croma turbo. it had the newer engine but sadly it broke a valve. Shortblock is in storage since the crankshaft should be fine.

    The oil is good enough for the engine. waste to put more expensive oils in there. The car is running on lpg anyway so there is much less dirty stuff in the fuil.

    All in all, a fine engine in a fine car. doing about 30.000 km a year with it.

    Turbo is a fiat spec watercooled T3, basicly the stock turbo of most 2,0 turbo's. it was bolt on fit for the engine.

    If I'm not mistaken, that was the engine block that was used in the Alfa 155 D2 race car, due to the lack of balance shaft casing it is slightly lighter. On the D2 it ran with a Q4 head that was rotated 180degrees so the inlet side was at the front of the car improving breathing.
    Oh and it was a normally aspirated engine that made between 280 and 320bhp during its various incarnations.

    I know a 2 liter twincam. its of the type alfa used to mod for their cars. A local scrapyard specialised in fiat, lancia and alfa as all sorts of treats on the shelve. even a complete Thema 8.32 engine. But it needs a rebuild.

    A couple of v6 turbo's, quite alot integrale and q4 gearboxes. and also Rear difs.

    in short ime blessed with a super parts suplyer for my old croma. I might even do the 16 valve head and piston swap on the engine that i have in the car right now. They got everything i need on the shelve.
