Hi, they both look to be in excellent condition, similar mileage and price too.

Assuming they're both as good as they look it's really down to which you prefer to drive, because they're totally different!

You've already got a V6 in the 164 so the Q4 might appeal and is ultimately the better car, but they can be hard work to drive and maintain.

The V6 will be easy to drive and maintain but not as quick or tunable as the Q4.

Personally, having owned both, I'd go for the Q4.

Though a standard car isn't that fun to drive, you'll need at least a squadra chip or something similar. Parts will be more difficult to get a hold on.

I would prefer the Q4, I like to drive

Hi, I guess parts for any 155 are going to have to be imported to Canada, so don't worry about availability it'll be pretty much the same for both.

As you've already had a 3.0L V6 75/Milano the 155 V6 will never live up to that, so go for the Q4.

Just make sure you get a good test drive and are allowed to go somewhere where you can open the car up, make sure it pulls well, especially from 3-3.5k rpm.

even though the v6 is the better colour and has a slightly nicer interior, i would still choose the Q4 more power, more torque, more tuneable and better handling ...

Both cars have a better/nicer interior than most of the European cars.

Do you know where these were imported from?

    Default q4 or wb v6??

Both of these cars were imported from japan, v6 looks nicer however those decals gotta go imo, also i cant find any info on a 96 q4, are the badges in the right spot on boot lid??, and forgive the newbie question, is this Q4 a wb or a skinny, should b a wb no just by production date or?? Almost wondering if this car has been made for importing?, not sure of the integrity of the importer, call me skeptical.......almost looks to good to b true!!
    hes at 12900
Thanks everybody for the input, hopefully ill get down for a test drive soon, although the longer i procrastanate, the asking price keeps falling, the q was originally listed. For 15500 and now 12900, shootin for 10grand but i bet if i wait for that ,this car will belong to someone else!!

The Q4 is a so called wide body

Make an appointment and take the car for a good test drive.
Listen to the engine, take a good look at the temperatures and oil pressure.
Standard Q4 should have a good kick around the 3500RPM like Steve already mentioned.

With regards to the badges, with the European cars the badges were originally at the top of the bootlid as they are in that picture, however with the introduction of the widebodied cars (95 onwards) the badges moved down to straddle the bottom of the boot, like this:

Not sure if this was the same with the Japanese cars as there are lots of differences with them.

And yes whether the car is a skinny or widebody should be down to when it was made. The changeover date is 1995, before and its a skinny, 95 and after its a wide-body.

The car in the link is a wide-body, easiest way to spot is the shape of the front indicator repeater, skinnies have a rectangular shaped one, wide-bodies have a lozenge shaped one.

Is there anything else that makes you think the car is dodgy? The Japanese market has always attracted oddities from the Fiat group.

Oh and shouldn't you be calling it the trunk lid, not boot-lid?

I like the v6's body kit, but I would definitely go for the Q4.

Both cars are nice to have.. depends on what your looking for. reliability + sound or speed + traction. both are expensive in servicing. my opinion is that both cars are a bit higly priced if you compare with our prices in Switzerland..

Yes, but the cars are in Canada, and if you are in Canada and want a 155 you are going to have to import it yourself (not sure how hard that is) or buy one of the very few that are already there.

Well from the plates the car looks like a Japanese import, so what I would do would be to look at Q4 prices in Japan, then take a look at shipping costs, and the costs involved in registering the car.
Stick all that together, and make an offer somewhere between that price and the price he is advertising at.
If the car has been there for a while, the dealer might just be glad to get it off his books.

Make a cheeky offer, the worst he can do is say no.

The V6 is also on Ebay at the moment, with a reserve.

This might change your approach on this 155.

What are the rules for importing and registering a car in Canada? Does it need to be over a certain age to be exempt from all the red tape?
