    Default Powerflex Bushes

I am replacing the front wishbone bushes with powerflex ones, as one of the rubber ones was pretty worn. I am following the instructions that I found here...

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/arocderby...one_bushes.htm

    here is my version..

    The finished product.....

    www.nielsen.org/alfa155Q4/wb1.jpg

The only real problem was that the shaft diameter on the wishbones is 21.15mm. The bushes as supplied by powerflex are 20.95mm. Too big a difference to even press on. I increased the size of the bush bore so that it could be put on with a press, but if I was doing it again, I would increase the the size of the bush so that it was a press fit (by hand) and then use loctite to secure the shaft to the bush.

They must be absolutely rock solid then. That will be a good thing - I jsut wish the ball joint was the bolt on type like it is on later 164s. Good stuff though

Steve, could you please see if it could work again? Thank you.

Here you will find my tutorial of mounting powerflex bushes (just put it in google translator, should work)

there is also a gallery, i did it on my previous 155v6
car was superb, but as someone meintoined ball joint ended quite fast, and i still have this bushes somewhere in garage, but don't have internal will to do it again without proper tools (first time made it with really big hammers )

By the way, have anyone any advice how to have stronger ball joints ?

    regards

Your pics are talking just great. Thanks for the input.

Regarding ball joints...maybe we should go to a lathe man for rectifying it. I used to find some of them here and with the proper material it should last at least like aftermarket ones.

Guys, is it necessary for Powerflex bushes to use Loctite to secure the centre sleeve (bush) to arm ? It is supposed to be pressed on, isn't it? Thank you for the inputs.

I don't believe it is necessary.

    Thanks, Wrinks!
Don't know why they recommend that and I don't want to spend 40 euros for 50ml Loctite...

    Cheers,
    Cris.

I've just bought some Loctite 243(?) well when I say some, its a 250ml bottle, was only about £25, if you want I can squirt some into a bottle for you and stick it in the post. It'll take me years to get through it all.

Thanks Steve it's very kind of you but I've already took the risk without Loctite . Thanks again.

When I was asking why is the price so high their answer was that Loctite is a very well known companyand have quality products.... No sh.t.. then they shoud keep that 50 ml bottle there.
