Garage layout.

Right chaps, due to the imminent arrival of the GTV I'm gonna have to do a little bit of garage reorganisation. I've been down in the garage with my tape measure and I 'think' I can fit everything in.

Here is a layout of the garage and how I think I can fit in all of the big items:

The black square is the Q4 and the green is the GTV. I want to keep as much space on the left as possible so I can use it as a work area.

Anyone got any radical ideas about how to arrange things?

Can't see you being able to do much more with that space as it's a restrictive shape.

Could you extend the right hand side to make it a full rectangle?

I'd probably put the lower workbench at one end of the main bench, to make a right angle...is there a door at top end?

The problem is that the part dividing wall that separates the 2 sides of the garage is actually a supporting wall for the house above. Not much chance of doing anything there really.
I might be able to do away with the shelves altogether if I can clear some more space in the storeroom that is down there.

Steve, you could indeed make a change before leave everything just like the way it is now: grab a beer and cheer for the GTV, for the nice garage you have there and why not...for you to have everything done just as you wish. And then have one more. Beer not car...

I'm also in the middle of moving my sh.. to another garage which needs some restoration work too. I want my Q4 to have a nice and clean little home and where I can retire sometimes to work and free my mind.

Ahh, the problem is that at the moment I can't fit both cars in. The garage isn't like the diagram currently.

That would be a tricky one to get past the wife, the kitchen and dining area are right above the garage.

Would be nice though, install a lift to store one of the cars inside the house.

I have managed to sort out an unused part of the garden (one of the joys of a 2.5 acre plot) to build a new shed to store some of the work stuff that is currently in the garage. Should give me enough space in the garage.

Well the Japanese are an interesting race of people aren't they. Probably best to park over a tiled floor and not some deep pile carpet.

Finally getting the garage in some sort of shape so I can roll the GTV straight in there on Thursday.

The workbench has been moved to give me a little workshop area at one end of the garage, leaving enough space in the small side to tuck the Q4 (or the GTV) away whilst I work on the other one on the large side.

Looking good. Is that a 1/8th scale RCC on the wall?

Just got to clear away all the bits and pieces on the other side of the garage and I'm all set. And yes it is a 1/8 RCC on the wall, its a Kyosho Landmax with a twin speed transmission. Scary quick on tarmac, its pretty heavy and the brakes aren't the best.

Get some cheap white paint and get the walls & ceiling painted. It'll make a huge difference to the lack of dust and light reflection. Sounds a bit precious to some people but makes an unreal difference. Do one side and see the difference. Floor paint is a must too IMHO. Cheap things that make a big difference to your workspace.
