Another GTV

Got send these details last night, just thought what you guys thought of it.
On the plus side its cheap, on the minus side its a long way away.
Hes got all the parts from the car, and is in the middle of restoring the body, including replacing the rear wings and chopping out the rust.

Now this is my kind of thinking...
What you've found Steve could be a very good point to start for having a GTV just as nice and good as you wish. But be careful, could take a lot of time and effort, that's what happened to me for being such an enthusiastic type of guy who use to "think" with heart very often and especially when it comes to cars.

If you have a friend with a SUV (Land Rover for ex.) and a platform it won't cost you that much to take this GTV home...

Definitely bodywork takes much more time than anything else, at least that's what happened in my case...

It looks like there is still some work to do on the inner wings, I've mailed the guy again as the car is actually 250 miles away from me, so going to pick it up will be a major exercise.

I wish, be nice to have a lift like that. Need to build a new workshop to house it in first, and that might cause a few problems.

I hate this kind of moments, happened to me once or twice too. And each time I've heard in my head words like "it certainly must have been the best offer I could get but I've lost it only because I wasn't determined enough".

In other terms, I'm sure that if something is meant to be someone's then so it will be...

I take that opinion as well, if someone else got to the car before me, then it wasn't meant to be.
I've still got the 500 shell in the garage and the Citroen on the drive so I'm not in any rush to buy another car.

Got offered another GTV this week, similar condition to the last one:

This one is again a long way away, and to be honest looks a little worse. Only €450 but to my eyes looks just a little bit rusty.

450? - 45 perhaps... Bodywork problems take so long to fix and create a lot of mess in the process... I would rather buy someones ex 'daily-driver' that has a failed engine, or gearbox - as long as it was straight with no rust issues - and then strip it myself. Sometimes it can be hard to see all the rust on a standard config car - but with GTV's the rust tends to congregate in well known places...Have you considered putting your 75 turbo engine in a sprint body...

I like the sprint body, but fitting a 75 Turbo engine and box would be a huge amount of work. The Sud/sprint were fwd.
If I was going to go that route I'd find a late 1.7L 16v 33 motor for the sprint. Should be more than enough power for a car that weighs about as much as an empty fag packet.
