    Default Q4 Expansion Tank

    Hi Guys

My expansion tank has swollen up and is starting to weep slightly!

I thought i'd be clever and try to swap my twinspark's one over but obviously that is different!!

Does anyone have a spare or know where i can get one? EB Spares said its no longer available.

    Thanks

    Patrick

    Hi, Patrick!

Is it the size (volume) you mean by "different"? Would that matter anyway...?

Untill I get a new Q4 expansion tank I also had to mount one from a TS (1.8) and it works just fine.

All I had to do was to adjust (cut) the outlet hose (connected to the T-piece) due to this tank's different outlet orientation. If you'll end doing the same, just be careful to adjust the outlet hose no more or less that it is needed to avoid touching the waterpump belt (or being strangulated). And watch for the EGR pipe to have it's heat coating which prevents melding the tank. I wasn't...

But maybe you'd like to wait for few more oppinions on this matter...

    Cheers,
    Cristian.

    Thanks Christian.

I guess I will have to adapt my existing twinspark tank. The size is the same just the outlet is in the wrong place / angle.

Bit of a shame as I really wanted to keep it as standard as possible.

Think Jack is using a V6 tank to keep the coolant level sensor...but yes, the pipe is in the wrong place.

Eventually your pipe will need replacing anyway, and they're not available either, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
