    Default Data logging

Sooner or later I want to use data logging when running again. I am far away from this objective, but I would like to know what people here on Berlina Sportivo are using.

We all have seen nice graphs and film material from Jim and his progress at the track

I already purchased an LC-1 and AFR gauge because this is the very basic required when starting to work on your engine (in my opinion).
Besides this I already have a boost gauge (Defi Link system), limmited in logging options.

Innovate has some nice products (DL-32) that could help me in gathering this data. (temperatures, boost, etc.)

I would like to hear what others are using for data logging and what their experiences are on this subject. I want to figure out if the DL-32 is the tool for me or should I consider something else?

    Regards,
    Marc

Marc, not to sound annoying, but please get the car running before worrying about less important stuff. Time to focus, at last. How many years since the car was alright?

Marc, I am using a race technology DL-1. I have found that the most important thing about these devices is 'ease of use'. It has to be simple to connect sensors and to retrieve data - or you will end up with no data. My DL-1 is the original version - the new one is even better in that it has more inputs. its amazing how fast you can use up the ports..

    I am logging..

    Boost pressure
    oil pressure
    oil temp
    water temp
    fuel pressure
    RPM
    speed (in two different ways)
    air inlet temp (before intercooler)
    air inlet temp (at manifold)

Not really data logging so slighty offtopic but simple reading : Which program can read our ECU via an ELM327 USB interface with the proper cable ?
My mechanic has bought an ELM327 USB interface and diagnostic cables and i tried several programs but none of them could communicate with my cars ECU. We tested the interface and the cable with a 156 ECU with success.
I found the FiatEcuScan program but not yet tested it although i cannot found our ECU in that programs database.

ps.: Last year we tried a pro device, namely the Bosch KTS 540. My mechanics 155 1.8 was communicate with it, My Q4 wasnt.

Try this link. But I am not sure if Sander already had time to look into the Q4 ecu, this is different than the other 155's. Last time I looked at this, it still wasn't possible. He also offers a caple to connect through USB.

    Marc

    Thanks Jim, very usefull feedback
I agree with you that it needs to be simple an easy to operate and install. That is what I am looking for. I need to install and operate it

I'll take a look at the DL-1 you mentioned. Is this the logger you use?
It sounds like it will do the same as the Innovate DL-32, i will compare them.

    Marc

Marc, I have never seen the Innovate DL-32, but having had a look at it just now it has a couple of interesting features..

    1. an inbuilt map sensor (I use an external one with my DL-1)
    2. a 5v+ output to drive sensors (the DL-1 has one too and this is essential..)

You might want to have a look at the main analysis software and compare the two systems as this is where you get to see your data.. The Race technology system has been well developed over a number of years, and has a lot of good features especially ones that make it simple to 'map' 3rd party sensors into the system..

have a look at the user forums on the innovate website to see what issues people have the device. I will look at this system myself, I think it looks very keen for the price..

    cheers., jim..

Today the mailman arrived with a big box that makes me smile

    What's in it....

    LC-1 lambda controller with sensor

And of course a gauge for realtime display in the car.

More packages on the way, but they are engine parts and tools

I don't. This went a bit wrong in the confusion of the discontinuing the XD-1. The idea was to use "a" gauge in combination with the LC-1 for displaying the AFR results.

This Innovate kit is what I am after for my setup - later this year when funds might allow (not counting on it though!)
