    Default headlights bulbs 100W?

    I'm thinking to mount the H1 100 Watt 'Blue Vision Ultra' {4000K} headlight bulbs, but the electrician says they will burn the contacts {due to overheating}.
    Never had any 'overheating' problems using the 100/95 Halogen bulbs regularly in my other old Alfa and I can not see why I should have using them in Q4!
    What do you think?

    P.S.
    I do know that 100 Watt are 'not that legal' for road use but I do concern only for any 'overheating'/contacts problems.

    Do NOT use other light bulbs with more than the standard 55W.
    The plastic reflector will melt!!

    I converted to 35W HID Xeon 6000K.

    I forgot the bl@@@dy plastic parts! Thanks for mentioning them Marc!

    But let me ask you something else.
    A 55W halogen lamp equivals to something near 2300K for a Xenon lamp {if I'm correct} and a 100W halogen to 4000K {more or less}.
    What do you think for Xenon at 8000 or 10000k?

    This is only the color of light from the light bulps.
    6.000K = bright/crytal white
    8.000K = blue white
    10.000K = purple white

    I don't like the colour from 8.000 or 10.000K bulps, I wanted a bright white light beam. This is why I choose 6.000K.

    You are absolutly right about the halogen bulps, they equal 2.300K

    From what I've read you only want to use 4300 or 6000, anything more and the light quality deteriorates, same with less than 4300.

    thanks guys. I'll go for the 6000k Xenon.
    Does the 35 Watt or the 55 Watt convertion kit to HID Xenon makes any difference?

    Aren't the xenon HID's only available in 35W?
    This gives more than enough light

    No, recently there are 12V 50/55W H1 HID convertion kits too.
    Though I do not 'understand' that much, here the 'Technical specifications' :

    Lamp
    Output 55 W
    Nominal voltage 85 V
    Nominal light output 3200 lumen
    Operating temperature -40`C-+85`C
    Lifetime >3000hours
    High voltage converter and ignitor
    Operational input voltage 8-16 V
    Maximum input current 8 A
    Minimum voltage loaded (lamp on) 60 V
    Maximum voltage loaded (lamp on) 120 V
    Output voltage from ignitor
    Nominal voltage 23000 V
    Minimum voltage 18000 V

    The one for the 35W are :
    Lamp
    Output 35 W
    Nominal voltage 85 V
    Nominal light output 3200 lumen
    Operating temperature -40`C-+85`C
    Lifetime >3000hours
    High voltage converter and ignitor
    Operational input voltage 8-16 V
    Maximum input current 8 A
    Minimum voltage loaded (lamp on) 60 V
    Maximum voltage loaded (lamp on) 120 V
    Output voltage from ignitor
    Nominal voltage 23000 V
    Minimum voltage 18000 V

    People here claims that the 55W are more 'stable' - whatever this means{?}

    Can't understand why more output is more stable?
    I guess the quality of the ballast is the only influance there.

    Thanks for the info Nick.
    Already bought a pair of 100Watt HOD bulbs {halogen with xenon inside and UV protection for the plastic lenses}.

    As soon as they arrive I'll test them with the beams {which I use rarely - so not that risky for the plastic part} and if everything goes well I'll buy another 100 Watt pair for the headlights.

    The 35W contrary to the 55W are faster or slower heating up time, then more stable lighting, the 35W-option of course being the faster (optimal for full beam for the headlights and such since you flick them on and off and want the light fast when put on)the 55W are good in example for the dB- hunters and other audiofiles or such where power-peaks are often found.

    I mounted the 55W HID Xenon kit in the main beam for the headlights as well as the fogs:

    Nice picture!

    I've already mounted the HOD 100Watt for the high beams and have not noticed any problem so far.

    As soon as I have some spear time I'll go for the 55W HID for the main beam.
