    Default Alfa 155 Q4 - Alfa Corse

I own three Alfa 155 Q4 series 1, but on the Q4 i bought from Germany there is an additional Alfa Corse label in the engine bay.

As i know there have been three series of the Alfa 155 Q4.

Does anyone of you know something about these label (please look at the picture)?

    Chris

    Initial observation:

Serial number plate as in original Alfa 155 GTA
"ITALY" added (horizontally) in some Alfa 155 GTA
    TIPO = 155GTA, AR155GTA of A.R.155GTA
    N? = vehicle number, e.g. *004* (ex 1992 CIVT No 7 Tamburini)
Attached (headstock nail) in principal at all 4 corners, and punched through 'E' of ALFA CORSE in 1 of 8 Alfa 155 GTA

    This vehicle:
    "TIPO = Q4...ATO" = unable to read / unknown
    "N?28939" = unknown
Punched through 'E' of ALFA CORSE
    Chassisnumber (*00028929*) = 155 Q4 series '92 ("U9" in the Netherlands)
Chassisnumber = in line with a 155 Q4 series '92 of the special "DTM" version for the German market
Chassisnumber = not in line with 155 Q4 series '92 in the Netherlands

Thank you all very much for your help!

I have looked at the label again and there stands

    TIPO Q4IOVATO
    No 28939

The last number is also a bit strange, because the car serial number is 00028929 (maybe a mistake from the past).

So maybe it was really a special "DTM" Version for the german market.

Does anyone know how much of these cars are existing?

Maybe you should use the other to cars to restore this one.

    So far looks pretty rare.

I only found two differences to my both other series 1 Q4, which were original exported to Austria.

One is the additional label in the egine bay and the second is a different oil cap with a cloverleaf on. Finally these are not big differences. Maybe also the power rating is a bit different, but this could also come from the different countries, they were exported to.

I will add some pictures of my german Q4! Before i bought my Austrian Q4`s i tried to repair the german one. But the biggest problem was to get a registration in Austria, so i gave up this plan and looked for an Austrian example.

I am curious if the Magnetti marelli unit and chip are standard in the german Q4.
Did you find anything on there different from the other q4's?

    Maybe a logo/number?

The german one is black or red? I got confused as i thought it was the black one in a previous post. But you now show a red car?

why don't you ask any questions you have to the R.I.A.R. {Registro Italiano Alfa Romeo} - Italian Register of Alfa Romeo? It's an Alfa Romeo's department {in the factory} and they already accept the Q4s and the V6s {only}. They can be of great help, almost for everything you might need.
With the chassis number they can tell you everything about the car! Engine number, color number, interior, production date, when it was first registered, to whom it was sold and even all the mods or extras which were mounted in the car by the factory.
So, you won't have to 'quarry' for anything.

They did it for me {my car} more than 4 years ago, when the Q4s were not yet accepted in the register. Maybe it was because of Mrs Elvira Ruocco {secretary of RIAR at that time} who helped us all the time with documentation and other 'little things'. Now days Q4 are accepted in the register so you won't have any problem at all.

Strange, I contacted Alfa about my Q4 about a year ago but they only gave me very basic information. Most of the list you posted can be obtained from the Eper parts CD, but I wanted more detailed info which they couldn't supply

    Perhaps it's different now?

    Q4Jan:

The red Q4 (pictures above) is the one i bought in gemany and these is also the car with the additional alfa corse label in the engine bay.

The black Q4 (shown in Media Suite \ Readers Cars) is the one i have on the road again and it is from Austria.

And the second red Q4 (also shown in Media Suite \ Readers Cars) is the car which stood near to my place in Austria. This Q4 is waiting in my friend`s garage to be restored!

I didn`t find any differences between my german alfa and the two austrian ones, except the oil cap.

    arjunior 45:

Thanks for this good idea, i didn?t know that there is this Italian Register of Alfa Romeo. Could you give me the contact please (telephonenumber or email-adress)!

I hope there i can find out, if my german Q4 was really a DTM-sonderedition or whatelse.

    Have a nice weekend!

This is the link to the RIAR site.
    http://www.riar.it/il_riar/contattaci.php

Lat time I've asked them for info was back at '05 or 'early '06 when the secretary was Mrs Elvira Ruocco. Now is Mrs Nadia Cattaneo and I do not know if they have changed their policy. Hope not, but I do not know.
Try to contact them in Italian ONLY!!! Ask for a friend if you do not know any Italian. You will see that they will be more friendly and more 'open' to any request of yours.

    @ wrinx
did you asked the info from RIAR or Alfa in general? Did you write in Italian?

Mrs Elvira was indeed working for Alfa Romeo up to three years ago {or so} and now she is in pension. There was not any other lady with her passion in Alfa Romeo, as far as I know. In '92 she had sent all the documents concerning my 'front step' and my 'veloce' including oem spare parts catalog, workshop manual, users manual ...
I believe she is still an 'active' member of an Italian Alfa Romeo Club {can't find the link right now -need to search for} for the classic cars section. If you need the link I'll try to find it next week.

The "DTM" was equipped with a special sideskirt.

Click to view an example of such sideskirt on an original German Alfa 155 Q4 "DTM". This particular vehicle got a Dutch car reg. in 2002.
