ABS and Battery light

The Q4 has been hardly used lately mainly short trips and all has been fine until today, Started it up and the battery and ABS lights won't go out.

I've stuck the battery on charge to check that but no joy

Any Ideas?

Mine does it, but needs a rev above 2000rpm to make them go out - maybe your battery is past its best now.
Heave heard of others doing this too. Once the lights go out the headlights brighten up and the interior fan speeds up too.

As above, perhaps also the alternator not giving enough juice back until revved.

It could be the voltage regulator on the backside of your alternator. When the engine is running, the voltage measured on the battery should be around 13,5-14 volts. Otherwise (if it's less) is something wrong with your alternator.

You could also check the alternator fuse on the right side of the engine bay: (I think it's the 100A one...)

when the voltage drops because of a failing battery (yes, it can sap all the power the alternator produces), the abs is the first item to fail.

well the alternators out and at the workshop for test and repair, fingers crossed

Bad news stator burnt out rotor low insulation leading to failure of diodes and voltage regulator

?190 exchange can't find one cheaper

Not going to pay ?100 for second hand one when it could fail in a week

Stuck really and it needs to be fixed before the weekend

I expect a used one from a coupe on FCCUK will only be about ?30 or so. ringman might have something to say as he had his alternator and starter motor repaired.

?188 lighter but shes runs like a dream, at least I can drive it now

does anyone have the code from the marelli alternator {not Alfa's part number} - Ampere and any other code?
I'm going to replace the 'voltage regulator' but as always ... "need to order it from the factory on Italy".
Alfa's part number for this regulator is 9950586, but it will be of a great help to me if someone knows the M.M.'s part number for this regulator.

solved the same 'problem' with mine- ABS warning light on up to 2000 - 2500 rpm, wick headlights and low horn sound!
It was just the battery warning light that had a bad connection and it was playing tricks on me. Replace the lamp, cleaned the wire connections and everything is ok - normal now. ABS warning light goes of, just in less than a second when engine starts.
