    Default EBCs?

MBC worked well but suffered from lots of spikes...now this could be my gauge being erratic or the turbo at fault as it died shortly after installation!

Sok, I'm looking at EBCs as they are supposed to control spikes much better.

    Any experiences to share?

I'm considering a GIZZMO or perhaps Blitz Dual SBC Spec R as they have four potential boost settings which I'd like (0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 etc)!

I hear they are good but can be a real pain to setup correctly. Perhaps a better, higher quality MBC?

The Blitz does look quite tasty though

I've read an Australian article about setting up the Gizzmo and it seems reasonably ok from what little I know...fast runs have to be done in each gear etc etc to set the max boost and then add 10% duty cycle etc etc.....straight over my head!

Well...bought a cheap EVC2 controller (just low, high and off settings)to see if it works, may then splash out a bit more in future

They seem to be the higher end of the market....well, they cost more than I'm prepared to pay anyway

Still interested in the Gizzmo and less so the Blitz.

I guess the clue is in the name....

Nice if you want lots of buttons, knobs and flashing lights etc - the Coupe owners love them.

    Hey boost spikes are fun!

They do not control the fuel, but only the boost..
On mine i use it to boost 1.8 in the lower gear and 1.6 in 4 and 1.4 in 5th gear

I think Jim may have been asking how is the extra fuel managed when running with a boost controller....not necessary as far as I know, the current map handles it all so long as you don't go over the maximum boost setting.

No not as long you stay inside the MAP, but still it can be a problem.. when i chip my car i also adjust the WOT. And the my car get to rich with full gas and low boost..

I believe that if you want to go above 1.5Bar you need to change the map sensor or it trips the ECU in to safe mode.

    What is the WOT?

Sorry i could have explain. It is Wide open throtle, a parameer in our ECU, where you can let the car get % extra fuel

What are the little circles of plastic in the boost pipes, looks like a diaphragm of some sort...restrictors/inhibitors?

Are you sure they aren't one-way valves?

If they are one way valves then you will find them in a few places in the engine bay, namely on the brake servo supply and somewhere on the oil breather system. They are used so that pressurised air cannot get up the pipe because these components only need vacuum - which is provided on deceleration., once you get back on the gas the valve shuts.

I'm not saying that these items are or aren't, I'm just asking the question.....

I also have no idea of what the picture is you have posted up to be able to throw any light onto the subject. Is it a flux capacitor?

why would a boost controller need a one way valve? how can it read out boost dropping that way?

if you want to make an accumulator to smoothen out ripples, fit a fuel filter in between, relatively close to where you want the smoothed boost... a restriction beforee the accumulator helps aswell....
