    Default 16vt Engine Number

Does anyone know where the engine number is on the 16vt? My insurance company are insisting on knowing the engine number for the engine conversion, and of course I didn't make a note of it when it was out the car.

Think FCCUK have found it for you

On the front of the engine, near/behind the turbo oil pipe.

Walkers sell the Samco one too. Think it was slightly cheaper than the OEM..

Thanks chaps Begbie on fccuk found it - now I've got to see if I can read it off my old build photos on a black block.

I replaced that silicon elbow with OEM, I forget how much it cost, didn't think it was that much ~?20?

It's a good job, you'll make good use of your slang vocabulary as you are trying to wrestle the stupid hose out and then back into place!

Yes...guess who forgot to put the pipe on when he was replacing the turbo and manifold?

Also, the two pipes are practically touching on my car, not sure if this is correct but it meant I had to slacken the manifold again just to swear at the pipe whilst fitting it.

The price above does seem a bit steep compared to these:

I bet they aren't as soft as the OEM ones. Good because they will probably last longer, not so good at fitting time though..

The 2 pipes are almost touching on mine as well, it is very fiddly to replace the hose, but I managed it without removing the manifold and without damaging it. I did it in the summer so I guess it was a bit softer than it would be now, and when refitting use some light oil to lubricate the rubber over the metal pipe, then swear some more as it runs down the hose and you can't grip it to get the pressure on it anymore.

Good thanks Jack - all 20 miles have been successful

It's not had an MOT for a couple of months, nor tax. I've had some major projects on at work and still have into the new year so I was going to get it ready to get it back on the road in March time.

I took the opportunity to lose the balance belt as well - I locked the front pulley as it would get some pick up off the bearing and eventually turn the shaft. I haven't really driven it enough to notice much difference, and now it has been so long ago I would hardly remember unless it was radically different.

I checked compression after the head gasket had cured, all returned back to normal
