    Default Bolt strength.

Either I am turning into superman or manufacturers are making bolts from chocolate these days.
Yesterday when I was doing some work on the Range Rover, I managed to snap 3 bolts, and seriously cross thread another. I didn't even think I was trying that hard, and used only a small socket set to minimize the risk of this from the outset.

They were only 6\8mm bolts so not that big. I seem to be going through a period of braking stuff at the moment.

Its the rounded nut and bolt I fear most, I now have the Irwin Bolt Grips:

Only used once but sure I will use them more in the future as things corrode more and more. These look good too:

As for shearing, a very difficult bolt on the thermostat of my dads 164 sheared where it went in to the alloy housing. Steel and alloy do not seem to get on!

Ahhh, no surpise then, dead easy to shear the smaller stuff.
