    Default Subframe ponderings.

This one comes on from the ARB thread, what are the handing benefits etc from mounting a complete suspension on a subframe then bolting that to the monocoque? The rear suspension of the 155 for example.
I know Lotus are going down this route with their new model line but for what benefit?

wish I could say the benefits but I really do not know.
But as stiffer the suspension is better the handling, at least as far as I know.
Maybe has to do with comfort>

I would think it has to do with rigidity mostly... (but i`m no auto-engineer!)

seems a sub-frame is a remnant of what used to be chassis rails in the days of such things....

.. and it is proabably about cost-effectiveness and profits more than driveability
