hi
i just send an email to bilstein for the middle bearing that support the drive shaft the answer was really fast this time
but they ask 189 euro +postage
this part when it was on production costs 66.83
they ask it 3 times up :doh:
is this the same as ours or this one is something stronger?
i have an attach photo
It is cheaper than the now newly produced ones. (wich are almost 250 euro a piece!).
So if it is stronger or likewise i suggest you buy this one.

I would suggest to ask bielstein if that's an uprated one. It looks exactly like OEM part.
I personally made a custom bearing for myself, all the work cost me 100 euros, but it would not be good for daily car.
that bearing is produced by SKF so if you have dealer nearby you can get it cheaper than that

I didn't know that was discontinued. But I'll check if there is here in Rijeka/Croatia some forgoten part. When I repared it mounth ago I replaced rubber with alluminum in mounting bracket and stuff works great.

Wrinx, it was a Wurth black polyurethane product that is used to stick car windshields to metal frames. It squeezes in from a tube but cures much stiffer than rubber.
Looks like a supplier in Germany is supplying the part for €135 + postage. Although I've always found German suppliers very reluctant to ship outside of Germany.

I dare say that if people haven't already done this, then they are going to be doing it sometime soon. After all, all the cars are going to be at least 20 years old now!!!
I have just ordered some liquid polyurethane so will let you know my results.

I think I bought the wrong product - Ordering in haste I went for Polyurethane Liquid Plastic Casting Resin rather than rubber.
I have actually now bought a tube of Sikaflex 252 which seems to be popular for this kind of job. Many people on YouTube using it for filling engine mounts to stiffen them up. I'll give it a go. The dogbone bushes look a little worse for wear too so I may try it on that too.
I had a go at splitting the prop for removal today although I was stumped fairly quickly.
I've just been watching a YouTube video on how to split UJs (so, they can't be split in situ then :(). I'll hopefully markup and remove that later this week..

I have taken the prop off and split the UJ. The grease in the front CV was quite thin and started glooping out on to the floor, the opposite end was thicker I would expect it to be. Does CV grease go thin over time or is there is a different type I should think about using?
No problems with the UJ and can't detect much wear. I then went to take the nut off the end of the shaft expecting it to be FT but no, the weight of the ratchet pretrial much undid it!

I've also bashed the middle bearing off. Not too sure whether I have damaged it in the process as its a touch noisy now when spun in my hand. It could be £40 well spent on a new one. Just have to figure out which part number it is just for the bearing. I spoke to Eddie at AE cars and he was surprised to hear that its only got the one UJ. I think I just need the centre bearing and that there isn't a rear bearing, at least on my car there isn't...

Oh and I meant to say before, twice I've had people split propshafts for me, long story, without marking them up, and I've never had an issue with vibration, so I've either been lucky or Alfa props are pretty well balanced from the outset.

Sadly I bit the bullet and ordered a new bearing support from AE Cars (listed for the Integrale but i'm fairly sure it will fit).
I couldn't drift the bearing out of the housing even with lots of heat and then I broke my vice in the process of trying. It needs a press and it will only delay me in getting the car back on the road.
Depending on how much Sikaflex I have left after doing the dogbone bushes I may still go ahead and try it and then sell it on if anyone is interested.
