I'd like the rear stiffer and some compliance left at the front..... so would like either a rear, or maybe front and rear, but with the rear more uprated.
What are the diameters of the standard parts?

Are you getting these from Pedders in Australia? Whiteline is generaly more popular and better respected for competition suspension parts. They stock 22 and 24mm rear bars. I've seen a few fitted to Tipos and Coupes. Iv'e never thought about uprating the front bar. What are you guys trying to achieve with the front bar?
If they come at a decent discount I'm keen on a rear bar 24mm. We should ask if they can do 24mm brackets too as the original ones don't fit on anything larger than 22mm.
For fast road/track day I think that is better a more thick rear arb in proportion to the front. With too much thick front arb the car tends to understeer....
The problem is that the Q4 ARBs are different to the regular 155 ones, both front and rear have got humps in them to clear the propshaft \ rear diff. The whileline ones listed are for all 155s excluding the Q4.
As far as I'm aware the Q4 only shares the ARBs with the Lancia Dedra Integrale, which curiously has a slightly thicker front ARB.
When the Dedra ARB is fitted to the Q4 along with a strut brace, it really tightens up the front end of the car, giving a more positive turn in.
Does the Q4 bars fit all the models then?
Are you not woried about understeer? I like to add a larger rear bar, just to make it more neutral. I have tried everything from a 16mm to a 24mm in a Tipo and even with the 24mm it will still tend to understeer in the dry.
Interesting! Although I'm a bit lost as to the measures and the reaction of Q4.
Personally, and this is only in my limited experience, the whole 155\Tipo\Dedra monocoque just doesn't have the torsional rigidity to apply the normal handling formula.
I can't be the only one to have worried when they've jacked up one side the front of the car and then tried to open the door.
All I can say is that when I stiffened up the front with a Dedra ARB and a strut brace, and then added a little more toe in, the front end of the car felt much more controlled, gave more confidence when turning in and seemed to grip better. The Dedra ARB is only slightly thicker than the Q4 one, so an even thicker one might help more or it might not.
If you compare the front setup of the 155 to the rear, the rear is by design a much better starting point to hang suspension from as its all hung from the one subframe, and the subframe is pretty beefy to start with.
Just my 2p worth.
Sorry I don't understand how much thicker are the OEM arb...
As far as I can remember the standard front Q4 ARB is 22mm for the widebodied cars and 23mm for the skinny. The Dedra front ARB is 24mm.
I don't want to put an order in for a lot of different sizes, so I suggest that we go for 2 sizes, 26mm and either 28 or 30mm
The standard rear is 19mm if I remember correctly, so what about 24mm and 26mm for the rear.
Thoughts?
I don't remember which was the ARBs size that Jim used to have for his race Q4. Maybe his experience would enlight us.
I'm pretty sure that Jim didn't actually go all the thick with the ARBs . I recall a post where he stated the sizes. I'll take a look for it. He did remove a lot of weight from the car though, which will make a difference.
He also used very hard rear springs. That car did not have an issue with body roll.
The car was also just a track car, so there would be no concessions at all towards comfort.
I should have some more news about the bars this afternoon, so everyone keep your eyes on the thread.
What do you think about 26mm front and 26 rear for track day use? Is too much? (for the rear). Keep in mind that the Q4 at rear is heavier than a standard FWD and I think it require a thicker ARB... Do you think so? I don't want the car understeer like oem setup; I want a "neutral behavior"... Or another solution maybe is to take only rear ARB (maybe 24mm) Sorry, but I don't know what is the better choise.
Whoa, not sure if you outwitted the translator there or posted whilst under the influence. :lol-052:
So you've already got a 30mm front ARB? How well does it work?
But you think that a 28mm front bar and a 26mm rear bar would work better?
And you'd like some input from Jim (Nielsen?) Well I should be seeing Jim sometime in the next couple of weeks so I'll ask him.
