Beautiful wheels! Where to find them???
Yeah well I should have said they need to be driven/worked on rather than polished (Especially red ones, too much polishing leaves them pink)
wrinx
do you know weight of the wheels
or can you measure it
The guy I bought them from weighed them at 12kg each for the post, without tyres.
wrinx
Impressive results!
If you get tired of those wheels... remember me, jejejejejeje
Congratulations on your purchase
Bit of an update....Brembos have gone, replaced by Wilwoods; and the bumper is undergoing a redesign:

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...per/Primer.jpg
wrinx
That looks similar to what I've done with my front bumper, but neater.
Piccies...?
wrinx
What Wilwood model is? With these calipers you can install the Speedline original wheels?
They are Dynalites...they will fit under Speedlines with 300mm discs, that's how this set was being used by "Speedy". The only problem is the discs have to be bells and rotors and some grinding to the lower balljoint!
But, they should fit the standard 284mm discs easily...I'm having to use them because the Zagato wheels are so shallow (40mm clearance).
wrinx
Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll be watching this project. Please follow informing us.
Update time...
Bumper is a bit bright!

Next job is to fit the braided rear flexis (fronts already done), bleed the system and then remove the inlet cam prior to MOT test!
Might also need a wheel spacer a millimetre or two wider
wrinx
Great job!!!
Fairly impressed with the machine-ing and engineering skills.!
Old lines in the bin:
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...elines/bin.jpg
Old brackets were in a bad way, time to fabricate some replacements as they're NLA from Alfa:

Very nice work there, but why not powder coat these items as they are a common fault for rot?, I take it, they are on as a mock up.
Been trying to bleed the brake system but the pedal is still spongy, replacement master cylinder is on the cards now
But, the wheels now clear the Wilwoods properly after making some DIY wheel spacers
A pair of used 284mm 4-hole Alfa pattern discs.

Good job!!
nice idea with the spacers!!
Decided to rip out the inlet and replace the rear hose...properly!
The parts required:

2x 90° 16mm bends
1x 135° 25mm bend
1x 25>16mm reducer
1x 25mm connector
2x 16mm connectors
1x 1m of straight hose shown is not required!
Supply of stainless hose clips...

nice work!!!!
Hi man,
First must say that its great work!
But have one question.
Can you say what have you done with adapters for brembos of ar166?
Welcome to the forum :)
I still have them, not for sale though if that's why you were asking..sorry.
wrinx
I like your idea of making spacers from the old discs.
I can see one possible problem though, haven't you lost the centre location (spigot) for the wheel?
It's close! There's about half the spigot left but with the chamfers it's damned tight...if all else fails I'll revert back to the standard calipers after thoroughly servicing them!
Although I do have another plan for the spigots...
Really ought to update this thread, I'm onto the bodywork now!
wrinx
Bleeding the brakes turned into a real nightmare, ended up replacing the master cylinder as a precaution and bodging up a pipe to connect the Easibleed to my compressor...two big air bubbles popped out straight away and the pedal is now rock solid
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...radaptor_r.jpg
Also replaced the clutch slave whilst I was in the area, the circlip broke when I removed it
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ld/circlip.jpg
Replaced coil packs and earthing straps too...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ld/strips2.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1.../manifold2.jpg
New leads...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1.../manifold3.jpg
Decided to put the front end back together, new bumper mounts because the old ones had seized and needed cutting off!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...er/Rebuilt.jpg
Then I re-manufactured the tank straps form 2mm stainless steel...those suckers won't rust again!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ank/tank01.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ank/tank06.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...Tankstraps.jpg
Found the vapour recovery thingy had fallen apart and was rolling around the fuel tank...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ank/tank08.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ctionValve.jpg
Whilst messing about removing the fuel tank I found the filler neck support bracket was totally corroded, had to snap it off so it needed remaking...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ank/tank03.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...230_134545.jpg
But it got worse, turns out the whole area was badly corroded....
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...230_134937.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...230_142143.jpg
So, my first efforts at car bodywork commenced...

This is sat waiting to be welded in now!
wrinx
Some lovely work there, I've got a Delta here that needs some work doing if you need a job
You should take some pics and show the guys how you form the panels.
Ok, will do a bit more detail in future...the former I used can be seen in the last couple of pictures (lump of wood), but I've also got a few tools which help :)
wrinx
Hi Wrinx!
Just creat job you did on your Q4.
The rust is a real problem with all 155er, mine has the similar points, but as i can see one the photos even worser.
Yours Chris!
Well...the piece pictured above it still sat on my ramp, waiting to be welded in
Hoping to get around to it in the next week or so...
wrinx
Over a month since the last work update :?

Finished pictures tomorrow, hopefully...
wrinx
Oh dear :?
Finished the repair panel today and tackled a few more rusty areas under the rear of the car, usually covered by the fuel tank...the twisted wire wheels for grinders are excellent!
Started on the inner chassis rail, added a bit of rust converter:
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...nx/floor03.jpg
Then the fuel tank mounts, plastic grommets were removed by screwing in a 10mm bolt and pulling them out.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...nx/floor01.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...nx/floor02.jpg
Then the drain holes which are a usual point for corrosion:
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...nx/floor04.jpg
Cleaned up a couple more areas and slapped more "Bondo" on!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...nx/floor05.jpg
The finished job...final paint and stone guard to be done after I've completed the boot floor repair by the wheelarch.

Managed to squeeze a bit more metalwork in today (last productive day of two weeks holiday!)...

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot14.jpg
Managed to break the top anvil, just as the last tweaks were being made! :( I'll try a weld repair...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot15.jpg
Finished article.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot16.jpg
First trial fit.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot17.jpg
Cutting out the rot.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot18.jpg
Final trimming...boredom stopped play as the pub called!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...hes/boot19.jpg
It occurred to me, whilst trimming the repair piece, that I've done this job the wrong way around, I should have fitted the boot floor piece first, then the lower arch...never mind, it's all a learning experience!
wrinx
Decided to get serious with it now!
Everything removed ready for dropping the rear diff and subframe tomorrow.
Crusty!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/Sub01.jpg
Trailing arm at full drop!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/Sub02.jpg
Spring removed and in the bath.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub03.jpg
Halfway there, dramatic difference.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub04.jpg
Anti-roll bar bolts; always a bit tricky but these came of with a bit of care...and an Irwin on one!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub05.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub07.jpg
Onto the big bolts.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub06.jpg
Compared with one from my old non-Q4 155.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub08.jpg
Arms out.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub09.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub10.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub11.jpg
Exhaust removed.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub12.jpg
Anti-rollbar off...how thick should they be, I reckon I've lost 2mm in rust!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub13.jpg
Had a quick five minutes play with the grinder and wire wheel, it should clean up ok.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub14.jpg
The only question remains...wire wheel and several coats of enamel paint or sandblast and powder coating. Ignoring the effort and time involved in the former is the latter really worth the difference? I've read of it chipping easily and not lasting very long :?
wrinx
Did a bit more today...removed rear diff and rear subframe, stripped the rear arms and removed the bearings.
But first, couldn't resist another picture of the Oz Zagatos...damn they look good!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/car01.jpg
Today's job, remove the diff and subframe.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/diff01.jpg
Diff removed.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/diff02.jpg
Subframe removed.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub15.jpg
Big empty space!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/sub16.jpg
Decided to remove the rusty tube and clean it up, the wire wheel is great, but...
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/tube01.jpg
...when the wires fly off, they draw blood! Eye protection is essential.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/tube02.jpg
Cleaner.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/tube03.jpg
Finished and being treated with Deox Gel, the black areas are the small areas of rust left despite all the wire grinding.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/tube04.jpg
Primed with Bonda.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/tube05.jpg
While I was waiting for the Deox Gel to work I replaced the bottom spring pan bolts which were more than a little worse for wear and usually shear off, they simply knock out.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/bolt01.jpg
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ame/bolt02.jpg
That only took a minute, so turned my attention to the spring that had been in the tank for a few hours; ready for spraying.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/spring01.jpg
Onto the rear trailing arms, stripped all the bits off.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm01.jpg
This is the bearing that needs to be removed, mine had a fair amount of play in them, the top of the wheels were leaning in!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm02.jpg
First one removed, what a mess; the grease had solidified!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm03.jpg
Second one looked better, side by side.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm04.jpg
This is the race, still in the arm, form the bad one shown above...another mess!
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm05.jpg
A second rough bearing.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm06.jpg
Next, the races were removed from the arms, this one had indentation marks from the roller bearings...perhaps made on fitting??? Very odd.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm07.jpg
Confirming the bearing code...same as other 155s.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm08.jpg
Off to the pub tomorrow!
wrinx
I cut out the holes and bits inside the bumper, then filled the gap with expanding foam and bodyfiller on top.
If I was doing it again (might do in future!) I would look at plastic welding some pieces in.
wrinx
Didn't get to the pub, so another day in the garage...
Wire wheeled one of the trailing arms, grinder seemed much smoother today :hs:
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm09.jpg
Primed it.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rame/arm10.jpg
Etch primed the rear springs.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/spring02.jpg
Popped the ARB into the de-rusting tub.
