Well, with regards to the shell, I would focus your attention around the passenger side subframe mounting point. Not where it bolts to the shell around the footwell, but the mounting point forward of that. The subframe is a good one, it came from a Q4 that went sideways into a telegraph pole (not that hard)
But some good news for you, when the car arrived with me, the engine only had 1800 miles under its belt. I didn't put many miles on it, and from the look of it the guy you bought it from didn't either. So, despite the fact there was never any warranty with regards to the mileage of the engine, I'm confident the engine has less than 2k miles on it.
Oh and its not a rebuilt motor, it was a crate engine from Fiat Spa. originally destined for an integrale.
