I mean this one:

http://www.moj-album.com/slike/426119/ScFqX5ngMIs7bKkr.v.jpg
http://www.moj-album.com/slike/426119/41gQnntfiHiqpFtE.v.jpg

I presented it a while ago here ...lets say around july last year.

Now this is it's current state:

http://www.moj-album.com/slike/426119/DDS1ACqusI2_ihq8.v.jpg
http://www.moj-album.com/slike/426119/JXl8pV6ecI4y4OaF.v.jpg
http://i24.servimg.com/u/f24/11/79/45/12/3aa10.jpg

It doesn't look pretty a?

I had an accident on the 15 of december...crashed into a big van in a slow corner. It was a little wet and i was doing around 50km/h when my car just went straight instead of turning into the corner .The van driver was also driving too close to the center of the road so the police said that maybe the fault will go split between both of us.

The main problem was the road itself....that particular part of the road is known for accidents(50 crashes in 1 year in that same corner) and there is not even a sign for slippery road or any cut asphalt for better grip.

The cabin part took almost the entire impact becouse the van somehow slid plus the strut bar "sent" some of the hit on the other side so the only way left was the cabin and it took it quite well since i wasnt injured that much(i had a few problems with my knee pad..broken.press) and that the driver area remaind quite intact.

http://www.moj-album.com/slike/426119/wvKkdPRHevUFh0bM.v.jpg

But i won't give on up Q4 that easy :) I just got another Q4 with a broken engine(but the car was never crashed and there is no rust at all ) which is going to be restored soon and then the engine, interior and a few others things from the white one are going into that car :)
Wish me luck on that one hehe

Greetings,

I got away much much better then the car.The good thing is the engine is not crashed(which is good becouse the engine is already tuned with forged pistons,eccetera..)and i will use it in the other Q4.

I will certainly keep you you informed on the progres of the other Q4 :)

Yes you do but at an expense of the white one :)

wrinx:

Yes the car was maintained beautifuly, never crashed no rust almost the perfect Q4 so becouse of that i can't just buy another one in a lesser state(here in slovenia are around 20 Q4's,1/2 of them is in a sorry state the rest is or being rebuild or lets say that cca 5 cars are actually MOT worthy and running)... i wouldn t be satisfeid so i rather build a good one from scrap :D

wrinx
16-02-08, 09:39
Good plan...and good luck!

You have a few more in Slovenia than the UK, we have about 12-16, not all of them are known.

It makes buying them a risk, mine has some rust but I will deal with it in time!

Something is moving at my place....

I just bought a nice set of recaro seats from a lancia delta for my almost to be started assembling Q4 hehe.I got them for around 130pounds or 170euros.

This week they are going to be "changed" into leather on sides and microfibra in the middle(all black of course) probably.

Here is a pic:

First of all sorry for your old car. I hope your new projects goes well.

Do you plan to part out the old one ? Especially the transmission / rear differential ?

axaQ42
26-03-08, 07:11
Most of the parts will go from the crashed one to the "new" body but if you need a transmission or diff. i can get you both of those. If you are interested please contact me on PM and we will discuss that further.

axaQ42
16-04-08, 07:54
Something new for the "future" car :

It's the 'grale 16V Garret T3(Tb0385...sometimes reffered as T38 i'm not sure..) which can "blow" ahealthy cca 350hp at its fullest.

http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/11/79/45/12/pic00012.jpg
http://i49.servimg.com/u/f49/11/79/45/12/pic00011.jpg

The "new" body is almost completly stripped. The next stop will be the painter and then the assembly of the body( It's going to be a widebody now...actually the first WB Q4 in Slovenia for which i'm very proud :D )

Pics of the work will be hopefully soon :)

Where did you buy the wastegate from?

Also, I see the old oil cooler pipes - just based on my experience while you are there I would replace these with after market pipes and connections :)

i am interested to know if the grale manifold and turbo where straight bolt on replacement or was there more work involved ?

major work or was it quite simple ?

axaQ42
05-08-08, 19:35
You need to adapt the gas cable brackets(needs a little bit of shortening becouse the cable is too tight), the idle valve brackets also needs adapting if you wish it to stay on the bracket, last but not least ...you need to "plug" the exit for the integrale's idle valve on the left side of the manifold.

Hi AXAQ42 ~ with the wheels and disks in this rebuild - I guess that you are using 166 calipers with Fiat coupe vt20 disk rotors? Is that correct? Also you have them inside 16" rims - can you tell me the rim details please?

Thanks, jimn~.

axaQ42
06-08-08, 07:07
These are the calipers from the lancia kappa 2.0 20v turbo...which are essentially the same as the calipers from the 166 AND the disk rotors are from Fiat coop...all correct :)

They are inside an 16" rim...OZ F1 RACING CUP....i will tell you the rim details as soon as i will get to read from the rim itself :D.They fit with no problem..not even the 5mm spacer is needed.
These are the same:

Bad news about your 1st Q4, still it went on to "give" its parts to save another! Your car looks just like mine! Done the widebody conversion and its just waiting for a few new bits and bob's and some paint and she's done!!
Good luck with yours, and stay away from that bend in the road!!!!

axaQ42

Oh another WB conversion...did you also put the steering rack ??

Brul(tm)
05-09-08, 09:41
Probably the 37ET allows them to fit.

I have Tecnomagnesio Sport TM alloys, ET37 and 7J.
I tried the GTA calipers from WhizzMan, but they won't fit without a HUGE spacer  And there is no roomo for this on my Q4 with the setup I have. I don't want to get rit of my Tecno's, so for now no brake conversion.

AxaQ42: Great job you! Engine sounds nice. Must take a look at the intake manifold projects that where done on this forum.

The car is slowly reacing its final stages of work, it remains only to do:
-Mount FMIC
http://i89.servimg.com/u/f89/11/79/45/12/07032010.jpg

I searched a lot for this kind of IC (68cmX17cmx9cm thick) so it can fit without too much cutting of the fender and so.Becouse of the thickness the flow is practicly equal or even better then the "higher brothers" of at least 23 cm height.

-Install new custom exhaust header
-Glue the bl**dy windshield already in :D

I will post some pictures of the remaining work.

Long time no update and that becouse of the problems with the windshield.I learned the hard way that the windshield from a 145/146 WONT FIT...its to thick and to high.I bought one new non-original and now i can just sell it or throw it away.A new windshield for the 155 is very costy 300-400eu so i went for a good used one.

There's not much room in there!

Its a copy of the ebay manifold but made better and with a few improvements(its full inox so its around 2kg lighter then that from the ebay!!,the pipes are more apart from the engine....)

Does he plan to make anymore? It looks very good! :smoke::smoke::smoke:

This header will be completly wrapped in 1600 degree celsius Heat wrap and also the turbo will have a heat shield so there is not much worry :).

Alfajack:

The car is almost ready there are still a few problems left(some electric problems and a few "beauty" issues and so ) but that roughly it:)

What a shame after all that work. Did you replace it with anything special?

axaQ42
06-07-09, 10:03
Yes:).I drive a Saab 9000 2.3 turbo with around 250hp:).

Something like this only in black:

Anyway, congrats for the work on that Alfa.

No special reason actually...i needed a car and i grew tired of the constant bugs and problems with the Q4 so i made this decision. And also i fell in love with another 4x4 turbo car....an Audi S4(C4) with 2.2 t engine and quattro drivetrain. It s a very nice piece of machine i tell you.

and you think there are no any problems or bugs with a German car?
The only difference is that you can find any part you want for a German car more easily.

axaQ42
07-07-09, 09:01
I know that bugs are everywhere :D but i tryed the car and it suits me very much, its built quailty is way better then the Q4, the engine is easily tuned to 400bhp without changing pistons, rods, camshafts and the noise is just plain sick!!Also i just grew tired of the Q4, i've had them for 5 straight years and never ever everything was running fine for at least a month :D.

Anyway i will buy an S4 later, now i will enjoy my "little" swedish tank :D.

The Saab engine is very very strong in stock form and very easily tuned, steel crank, forged pistons etc...

Yes :).It can be tuned to around 450hp with changing the head gasket, clutch, injectors, fuel pump and turbo with stock internals.I will be more modest...my goal is 300.
