Wow, glad mine came with the car! Actually the whole engine set was by Spesso.

from www.gozzoli.it you can have a far better grA head gasket {with separated rings} at just 220 Euro. I'll go for this one certainly.
We used it in a race prepared 75 Turbo with no problems at all when all the other one were blown after the 2 3 stage.

Taking a quick look on here Nyssa Racing (http://www.nyssaracing.com/index.php) they certainly look to be pricey, the one on ebay retails at ?240 :eek:

Ahh, as you say Steve, the auction is for a 1.9mm gasket which the site you listed sells for ?240!!!

EditL it also lists a 1.9 for ?96....so I guess "racing"on the ebay version is the GpA?

I think the Gp.A ones have the individual fire control rings so can deal with higher boost pressures. Delving back into my memory I seem to recall the standard Alfa head gasket was good for 1.4 bar, the regular Spesso 1.7bar and the Gp.A Spesso for 2.0bar+

But of course that could all be wrong.

#67633 is a Group A headgasket.. But it should be possible to find one around 200 euro.

You can find Spesso catalogue (with a product number for each gasket) on http://www.tecno2.co.uk/gaskets.htm

Cheers,
M.

So which gasket is the original thickness? the 1.4 or the 1.9?

Does the 1.4mm increase compression from standard? or does the 1.9mm reduce it from standard?

The standard gasket (not the spesso one) has 1,9mm before tightening it.
So the 1,4mm should increase the CR.

Edit: I?ve just calculated CR change, new value with 1,4mm gasket is 8,22:1

Juan could you calculate the CR with a 1,6mm gasket?

Cheers

Just reviewed my calcs.

CR:
1,9mm -> 8,00:1
1,6mm -> 8,17:1
1,4mm -> 8,28:1

Calculation is supossing that head gasket thickness is the same before and after thightening. Obviously, that?s not right, but it?s a good aproximation.
If someone has the camber and piston volume, I could accurate much better.

I was told that with 1,6mm gasket the CR should be at 8,21:1 but I do not know the camber and the piston volume, sorry.

Could be as you say Nick.
CR with original gasket (1,9mm) is 8:1 but I don?t know wich is the gasket thickness after tightening the cylinder head. It surely be less than 1,9mm. So with 1,6mm the final thickness should be less increasing CR.

Have you used these gaskets before Toch? Looks like they do several different gaskets for the Q4, different thickness's as well as separate sealing rings.

Might be a good alternative to Spesso
