...thread, what is the best/worst bodge you have done on a car?
Mine was on my first car, a Talbot Alpine 1982, it lost 5th gear, and after whipping off the gearbox cover it was found that the 5th gear on the output shaft had worn to the point where it just span on the shaft. Figuring that the shaft and gear had worn the same amount, a new gear was procured, and fitted onto a slightly worn shaft with a liberal dose of industrial strength epoxy resin. Everything was then tightened up with a socket set an breaker bar (for added security) and gearbox refilled.
Lasted for another 20,000 until I got rid of the car. I just hope no one ever had to do any other work in the gearbox as it would have been a bitch to get undone.
