Looks Great Jack - will look forwards to reports - what about some "installation photos" as well?
cheers, JimN
Built up the front shocks today and they are ready to fit :)
I would have had some some more photos to show but my dad seems not to know how this camera operates!

Also repainted the oil swirl pot and the metal tube intake pipe :) Hamerite black spray :)
Looking good Jack, with wishbones like that your handling will have been a bit iffy anyway, with the complete new set up it should be like new!
Can't wait to get mine back on the road with it's new suspension!

jack..
The triangle looking shiny metal bits that go at the top of the strut.. Are they an Alfa standard part?
What are the plastic looking circle parts for?
did you buy the wishbones new and complete?
will replacing the 'electronically controlled' shocks with the koni ones cause warning lights on th e dash to be continually on warning of the "failure" of the standard ones?
any more pics :)
JimN
More pics to follow tomorrow.
The shiny metal thing is the top mount - I did not buy it from Alfa (way too expensive), it was a pattern part made by KYB (Part numbers SM2003 & SM2004 - ?30 each inc VAT). I actually did not think these really needed changing as they seem in perfect order after 100K miles - but as I had them, I fitted them.
I think this is the better kit to get, bearing and rubber, SKF VKDA3500:

As you can see, there is no shiny triangle bit, but instead you get the new rubber bit that sits on top of the spring - this piece can wear out it seems.
The black circular parts of the swivel bearings allowing the suspention to twist when steering - these come with the SKF and KYB kits I mention above.
The wishbones were delivered as you see them for ?15 inc VAT each.
Both the above parts came from www.buypartsby.co.uk and the Koni shocks came from: www.alfashop.co.uk. Not sure how good these are to you in Aus though :(
The metal part is called the "cap" on the parts CD...agree with Jack, they don't need replacing on mine either but as they go rusty might as well now it's all off!!! ?50 EACH from Alfa!!!
The large bearing can cause creaking/graunching and mine had completely disintegrated on one side, the other side only had a bit of play compared to the new ones....after 100k miles.
Shame the kit didn't include the rubber ring as mine is in bits so the whole job has stopped, waiting for the part from Alfa....should be here tomorrow

cheers, will treat the 145 in that case... new wishys, new strut top bearings, new arb droplinks, new discs and pads and new drumbrakes.
now, where's my lottery ticket...
All done now. I am very bad at getting photos of these things - Its because I will probably end up covering the camera in grease!
Will let you know how it handles :) Its set on the softest mode at the moment though.
Have to say, the overhaul has worked wonders. Now have such a positive turn in and whilst in a corner you can accelerate out really well and have great stability. This is with the shocks on big softy mode.
Hope to do a trackday and stiffen them right up - I so could have done with these before I drove Bedford Autodrome!!
Well done Jack!
I took mine for a couple of laps of the local area...was worried about it rubbing as the wheels are wide and the car's so low!
Felt gooooood though
Rubs a bit when reversing but one side of the bumper is too far in...another job

Oh and the steering feels lighter and more positive too
