Anyone here bought anything of value from the USA recently? ebay etc. Prices over there are very cheap at the moment due to the exchange rate. Just wondered how you fared with VAT/TVA etc.

Cheers

The exchange rate is brilliant at the moment.

Iv no experience but I know that 888dee on alfa155.org bought some hot cams for his 2.0 TS and customs over here decided that they might contain drugs and proceded to chop them in to 4 pieces!!!!

Luckily they paid up :D

I was planning on getting the stuff in the USA shipped to my sister, also in the USA, from where she could send it to me under the guise of being a 'gift'
The G-tech I'm after is @ £250 in europe, but only €260 (£130) so even with shipping it should be worth it.

Just got a wastegate acutator from the states and got charged £12.39

£4.39 VAT
£8.00 Royal mail clearance fee

Bugger

if it's sent as a gift with a value of less than £36 theres nothing to pay
