I bought an EPROM chip from a Q4 on e-bay the seller assures me its from a Q4 with all the normal increases in power etc but when I fitted it the engine won't fire

I've replaced the original chip and all is ok any ideas?

the seller said it came straight out of a '95 Q4 which he sold last month

Just guessing (again) - How much does the engines ecu chip have to do with Alfa's code system, I am thinking along the lines that the '95 car might have the Code imobaliser - but if this is the case I wonder if it would crank at all :?

Agree with Jack, yours is an older series and won't be compatible with the 95 car. Don't suppose you could get the ECU serial number to check?

From being around when the old Evocars were working on my chip the one thing I will say is that Q4 chips are a black artform. I seem to remember that the 92/93 cars have a different chip from the 94 cars which in turn have a completely different chip from the 95 cars.
My chip ended up being based on Q4 executables (more break points) with tweaked 'grale data.
I may have a spare chip somewhere if you'd like to try it Pavs

'92 Q4s {with intercooler's water injection} had the eprom coded "101.03".
'94 Q4s {late '93 up to late '95 - without intercooler's water injection} had the eprom coded "101.04".
And '96 Q4s, the "wide body", {late '95 up to April '96 - end of production} had the eprom coded "101.05 IMMO".
I believe you could switch the first two eproms {101.03 and 101.04} but you can not use the "101.05 IMMO" chip-eprom in the '92 or '94 Q4s e viceversa.

It is not that difficult to convert any type-code eprom to another {a 101.04 to 101.05IMMO for example a viceversa} if you know which area to replace.
Only the Evocars chips were completely different from the OEM {original} chips as they were based on Integrale's Evo2 chip and they are more difficult {at least for me} to convert them into a "101.05 IMMO" like chip-eprom

Cheers

Not forgotten you Pavs, still looking for the Chip. Doesn't help that I've moved house since the last time I saw it, but I think I know where it is. :?

Still looking Pavs, but the good news is I've found a chip. The bad news is I don't know whether its the old standard one or the Evocars one.
Anyone got a pic of a standard chip so I can check?
