ive fitted a stainless steel manifold but theres no hole for the egr pipe can i just blank the pipe off without any problems???

Yes :D Mine is removed since september 2002.
No problem at all. And no recirculating of the exhaust gases ;)
It's an environmental thing.... to meet the regulations for emission E2 normation.
