My speedometer suddenly died!

Yesterday my speedometer suddenly died!
Is the damn thing connected with wire or is it electronic? And if its electronic, how do i fix it?

connected at the back of the clocks via wires, just undo the 2 small allen key bolts at the base of the clocks and it slides off in one unit.
undo all the connecters at the rear as not much slack then try turning all the brass nuts at the rear of the clocks a quarter turn as this normally cures it although its usually the rpm that drops off :?
