View Full Version : Over revving between gears when cold

Hi guys,
Something my car has done for a long while is keep the throttle open when off the throttle. It only happens when it is cold though and gradually gets better.
I suspect it is actually the cable sticking (although it is petty loose really) due to the cold but wondered if there maybe any electrical factors which could also cause this? (perhaps idle control valve?)
Many thanks,
Jack

I had same reving earlyer this year, change the temp sensor for cooling water and it was fine. But try to disconnect the electric connector to idle valve to see if its the valve

Idle control valve can get a but gunged up so that's possible but the WTS would be my suggestion too.

Cheers guys. WTS was changed just over years ago:

That was also the last time the ICV was cleaned out. I will try it. It may also explain why the car has no power or torque when it is first started up. It won't rev cleanly for a minute or so and I can barely get it up my driveway/ramp (very steep).

Will keep you posted.
