Hello everyone!

A friend of mine wich have a lancia delta evo 1 wants to assemble a spare engine block for his car. He bought a Lancia dedra 2.0 16v non turbo engine for a good price and is planing to use it for the lancia integrale setup. I took some mesures from the engine block and it seems that it is identical to his original integrale, the cranckshaft got the same mesures, even the conrods are identical (i even mesure the weight diference from my old Q4 conrods...all the same).
So far so good, so here comes the big question, are they compatible for turbo build? even the cranckshaft? I know they have diferent part numbers for the engine block..Are they forged or build with diferent materials or are they all the same?

Cheers

Hi Chuck,

Not 100% but I would say that you could build an Evo 1 engine from the block and crank of a 16v non-turbo engine. I'm sure the pistons would be different, and things like the piston oil spray would be missing, but the block itself I'm imagining is the same.

Take a look at just how widespread the basic engine has been used in the past https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Twin_Cam_engine
