Hi there everyone,
Im new here, driving a 155 Q4. I had the gearbox disassembled for service, since its a high km unit, i wanted to know if everything was ok. Well then, the issue here is, that i dont know what kind of oil the Ferguson VC Unit should use. Silicone based, most likely, but canīt seem to find info on the viscosity, quantity, or anything else. Iīd really appreciate your input.
Thanks!

Well ive got different versions. Some say it carries 80.000cst and recommend 100.000cst, wich i find way high in numbers. The oil dealer says he usually sells 6000 to 8000cst for this applications, but that depends on the VC design. Now you say its in the 30000cst ballpark. So yeah, im lost here. What viscosity have you tried?

I trying 30.000 cst
viscosity depends viscouse plate number and size
for example honda crv use 10.000 maybe 5.000 cst

I have 100.000 cst oil too but not try yet.
you can found all data on the internet anythink
but nothing about viscouse..

So now youre running 30.000cst and works fine?

better than old now..
you cant easly understand VC condition
are you try my lift test? you can see on the topic video

why I use 30k?
when I opening old VCs I see its like ~30k

this old oil

Thanks for replying MaxiBoost.
I saw the post in turkish, was kinda hard to translate, but worked!
So, are you using 100k ? 30k? I can get 60k, the dealer said 100k is kinda like a paste, not very flowable.
But i havent tried anything yet. I see the tests work, as pretty much any density would work, but will it work the right way? engage to soon? too late? too much? too little?
Thats where youre experience kicks in, since you have tried many densities, which one gave you the best driving experience? Not just a sitting still test?

Foca,
I use only 30k.
now cars handling better and better than old.

I dont know which is correct density
but if you are wait some days I planning use 100k oil.

Iīll be looking forward to it!
I never expected this to be such a complicated task!

Nice info MaxiBoost, thank you!

I have tested 3 viscos units from 8v intergrale/dedra , unknown milage on each of them and also each have way different torgue or say stiffness.
Used the the strongest one im my lancia. Then opened the weakest one, not much wear on plates i think, but oil was black.
I also dont know exact difference between Q4 and older ones.

How many grams/ccm are you filling into cleaned visco?

MaxiBoost

a empty viscous volume is ~300cc (include plates)
but you never refull it, I use ~275 - ~280cc
