I'll reassemble my head and I wonder how hard I'll pull the bolts. It says in the manual - tighten all the screws to a torque of 20Nm, tighten all screws to the pretorque of 50Nm ... Should I set the tool to 20Nm then 50Nm or first 20nm and then 70nm ...?:loco:

Head bolts are usually torqued more than once so I would say it 20Nm for all of them, then again but with 50Nm.

There's often a specific order that the bolts have to be tightened, perhaps from the inside and heading outwards in a pattern, does the manual say anything like that?

Just remembered, AlfaJack has done a couple of heads so he should be able to help further...I'll be doing mine soon too!

everything is in workshop manual -> engine section, you can download it from berlina web site,
first 20nm
than 50nm
than rotate all screws by 90degrees more
and then do it again (90 degres more)
all above in correct screws order (section 01-130) in workshop manual.

Slightly odd that it says not to replace the bolts, I thought they were stretch bolts???

I take it ARP bolts/studs must be torqued the same?
