Wow what a job!
What is screwed in to the exhaust manifold?

Norling

Thatīs for the exhaust temp sensor, one for each cyliner + in the collector. And also there is on the collector an connection to be able to messure blow back pressure to make sure the turbo are working correct or not.

The frame is up, 12cm from the original body down to the ground. I have no idea what it is from the beginning but this is low. We are about to decide how wide it should become.

The chassi is under construction and the floor section is almost done. The engine is put in place and the driveshaft is placed out to be able to see where the exhasut should be placed.

Are you going to try and get a flat floor to the car with some ground effects going on?

Yes, flat floor, Venturi in the rear, Lancia Delta rear bellhouse, 2000mm wide, 14cm lower then original. I am allowed in Sweden to build a street legal car who is to extreme for racing i sweden regarding noice, hp and some other modifications. Its strange how the environment regulations can kill an entire sport in one blow. Regulations for tracks are 95dba, the track who is only 5min away from where I live who for 3 years ago was the nr 1 track in Sweden but due to all insanity from the goverment is now almost broke, because even lower noice then 95 dba is allowed, driving is only allowed 20 weekend per year, 5pcs of days can be sold with NO soundregulations for an huge amount of money, driving on the track is only allowed 3 out of 5 days during the week. This is why I build a street legal car with a touch of racing  I will not be able to compete with this car in regular racing but who cares?!

we have started to install the rollcage. it doesent follow the body as good as I expected. What kind of measurment do you want?

colibry
01-02-13, 21:24
Complete measurment. angles and lenght of all pipes.. how many pcs are there and so on.. its realy easy then to make a copy and make it fit well..

Norling

not that found of giving you all the data so you can make one for your self. By one and make the copy. The rollcage doesnt fit that good, the right way to do is to messure on an installed cage so you get it right from the beginning.

in other words, whats in it for me to give you the messures, and why do you want messures on something that doesnt fit well, as I mentioned in my last post?

The engine is in position, 12mm more to the left then original, the reason is that the drivetrain is now in the centre.

The driveshafts will have an angle of 4 degrees, the enigne is placed 65mm higher then original.

How are you going to deal with the front driveshafts now that the engine etc has been shifted across by the 12mm?

Unusual offest at the front or are you having the front driveshafts modified?

Norling
03-03-13, 19:32
All driveshafts are to be replaced anyway, the car will be 2000mm wide, original its 1670mm if I recall correct.

it's really hard to me to understand why you cut the half car.
anyway, I hope that you will fit an other type of suspension at the back, something like integrale's.

Norling

@ varypodaros. The car was full of rust, the handling on an original car is poor. We just wanted to do something new with an Alfa, it is not common in Sweden to do more then rims and exhaust.

Makes sense with a rotten car. Big balls to commit to it though.

Cant wait to see how it turns out

Okey, the building is on again.
after a ride in my friends Golf 4 motion VR6 turbo is 4 pot engine out of the question.
The engine from this car will be put in my other Q4 so its out on the road again after 10 years of rest. The drivetrain is for sale since the gearbox cant handle the torque I will get with a v6 with turbo. My thinking is for the moment drivetrain from a golf 4-motion with DSP gearbox, a lot of aftermarket parts for good price is available since I want a sequencial one. Engine will be either 3.0 or 3.2 24v alfa engine with turbo.
Any suggestions, witch one is the best to use, 3.0 or 3.2 I dont want to overboost and I want to be able to rev around 8500rpm. The car will be used in the time attack series here in Sweden but the goal is still to have it street legal as an amateur build car.
I have already bought the complet drivetrain with gearbox for 1000 euro. After comparing the 4x4 from alfa 159 and golf 4-motion is my conclusion the drivetrain from Golf better and can handle more torque

That is some project you are taking on but given it is your own chassis anything is possible.

Good luck :)
