View Full Version : Exhaust gas tester boss

First off I'll apologise as I'm being pretty lazy with this post, but I'm at work and can't check it myself until later this evening when it will be dark and I won't be able to see anyway.

What I'm wondering is if the gas tester blanking nut (just below the lambda sensor on the down pipe/turbo elbow) is the same size and thread as a lambda sensor?

I want to know as I need to plumb in the sensor for my air fuel gauge but would rather not add another bung into the system. Plus it would be much easier and allow me to revert the car back to standard if necessary.

It's a long shot but would be REALLY handy.

can't say for certain, but i'm down with the car now and they certainly look the same size, can't see why they would be different to be honest.

I've had a look and I'm not sure there is enough clearance for the probe to fit past the oil pressure sender. Only one way to know for sure though so I'll be breaking out the spanners tomorrow.

It does look a little tight down there, I did think that it would be tight getting a socket on there, and the biggest spanner I had to hand was 19mm which wasn't big enough.

Its a sod to get off. Seems to be 22mm but im worried the ammount of force im putting in may damage the elbow / turbo / manifold.

Might leave it for now, a guy at work owes me a favour and can weld the lambda probe bung in place for me but i'd rather use the standard hole if i can get away with it.

I'm sure there must be a reason but why can't you splice into the original sensors wiring?

EDIT - I didnt realise factory fitted lambdas are narrowband, that'd be why then ;)
