Hi
Recently imported an 155 q4 from 1992.
Today my first failure:
starter motor doesn't turn. Battery is fine. Car is equipped with alarm and start blocker.
When turning the key you hear a zoom but nothing happens.
Is it the starting motor?
Thanks!!

Do you mean you hear the starter motor spinning but not engaging with the flywheel? The only other sound you should hear when turning the ignition on is the fuel pump building pressure.

If it is the starter motor spinning you hear, then the first thing I would try would be to get someone inside the car to turn the key whilst you get a metal bar on the starter motor solenoid, when you hear the motor spinning, give the end of the bar a whack with a largish hammer. If the car had been stood for a while the starter solenoid might be stuck\seized.

Easier to try this first as getting at the starter motor is a pain.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

As I understand when you say strarter motor doesn't turn you mean that it doesn't do nothing. Check if there is an alarm failure. "zoom" noise I guess is the fuel pump. Welcome to the forum my friend

Can you describe more the noise "zoom" you hear when turning the key?

Welcome to the forum too. Where did you import the car from?

Thanks guys for the advice. Today I'll try some things out to get the car started. It should be the starting engine and maybe it's due to long time not driving. The noise is most probably from the fuel pump. The starting engine itself doesn't do anything.
By the way bought the car from a collector near Cosenza south Italy. He took it from the first owner. It was a nice trip home and fortunately it didn't broke down along the way..
