We all know that all Q4s and Integrales were LHD (although some Integrales have been converted to RHD) but there seem to be a few Coupes that are having Q4 transmission transplants now. Are all of these LHD or has someone managed to squeeze it all into a RHD car as well?

Does anyone know the reason for the LHD only anyway? There is lots more space on one side of the engine bay for sure, but it must have been possible to repackage the engine to fit everything (braking and ABS unit mainly) on the other side.

Brad has a 16vt in a right hand drive GTV...I'm guessing the LHD only decision was purely economic.

Be interested to see how the brake cylinder fits in at that side of the engine.

I suspect the reason is there are far more Q4s in Europe (outside of the UK) so they are easier to come by for the conversion - it's nothing to do with RHD/LHD.

I also think our fellow Europeans are more inventive than we are - again, maybe because there were more of these cars over there in the first place so more people got to tune and improve them.

A friend of mine is doing a Q4 4WD transplant into a RHD Coupe. It doesn't make any difference RHD or LHD.

Where did he find the transmission?

He purchased a complete car from Japan

Oh I see.
So, some spares available for the new owner of Jim N's Q4!

I might be wrong, but won't the PAS and Aircon pump get in the way of all the braking components on a RHD car, or have the people who have done the conversion on a rhd car ditched the AIrcon?

It's no different to a RHD Tipo or Coupe with A/C. This is all untouched, the engine, brakes, PAS, A/C is the same remember

I'm not sure about LHD but on a RHD car the brake booster is on the cabin side of the firewall, only the small master produdes. The ABS and fluid reservior is mounted on the LHS of the car.

Yeah sure. However it's in New Zealand. There many Coupes there for mechanical parts too. There is at least one other Q4 I've seen in NZ

When you say LHS, do you mean the gearbox side of the car?
