Retainers are fitted at the end of treatment to maintain the position of the teeth following orthodontic treatment.

Retainers can be either fixed (wire glued on behind the front teeth) or removable or a combination and wearing your retainer is imperative to prevent relapse (movement of teeth back towards their original position). Retainers are worn long term indefinitely – for as long as a patient wants to keep their teeth straight.

We use fixed retainers where possible, and all patients are also provided with removable retainers.
