Hi guys
I would like to read some opinions about the size of Intercooler pipes. Actually the pipe after Intercooler until throttle body. The point is for some more air at high revs and some extra power because I'm planning for rebuilt in some parts. Thanks

Not sure what the size of this pipe is, but I've always wanted to straighten it out some and get rid of the 2 90degree bends in it. Might not help power overall but should help the throttle response.

Mine is 2.5" and the pipe to the throttle body is closer 2.75" but the pipework around the intercooler is aprox 2.5" (65mm)

Thanks guys, I was thinking about 76mm but I don't know if I reduce the air speed very much. I have a kappa manifold which I modified it and I think I could replace the two 90 deegrees bends with a straight pipe. The head will be flow ported and from the all new setup the only that will be missing is more aggressive camshafts tha I will buy later. That's why I want 76 mm pipe.

At the end of the day it's restricted by the intercooler inlet and outlets anyway. What sort of power are you aiming for?

when the camshafts be installed at low boost (1.4- 1.6) i think about 320, at high boost in trackdays or any "street race" (2.0-2.2) i expect about 360 hp

360, sweet, what turbo will you be using to achieve this? also what intercooler as this will be the decider for pipe diameter, but 76mm would be better when over the 350 i'd have thought.

i have a T3/T4 with stage 3 wheel. it can produce 45lb of air

What's the AR of the compressor housing? might be a little laggy

the only i don't like is the two 90 deegree bends....they reduce a lot the air speed. if with Kappa manifold i could replace these with a straight pipe i will let the pipes 65mm otherwise i will make 70mm pipes

Go with 3" and have no fears about airspeed in the pipes, they are only to move mass. Straight and short is good also.

Straight and short is good also.

I remember one of the big mods amongst the Integrale owners was to straighten out the kink in the lower intercooler hose.

Thats because what Lancia provided has a terrible kink just before the compressor inlet, rubbish production packaging.

my turbo's specs and yes, it is a bit laggy

• HYBRID T3/T4
• T04E TURBOCHARGER
• STAGE III WHEEL
.50 .63
3" VBAND EXHAUST
.50 A/R COLD
.63 3" SUPER VBAND OUTLET
a.. 3" INLET DIAMETER
b.. 2" OUTLET
.57 COMPRESSOR WHEEL TRIM
.60 A/R COMPRESSOR
.63 A/R TURBINE 57 TRIM

and this is the diagram
http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t79/mpamphnos/T3T4.jpg

as you see the max air that it can produce is 45 lb of air. this means that theoreticaly the max power that this turbo can offer is about 450 hp. i don't hope for this power and i don't want also, but it will be nice about 350-380 hp

as you see, i don't like these bends 1, 2

i will replace these pipes by one alluminium 70mm diameter like that

sorry for my paint, i will try beter next time....hahaha

I'm personally either going to use a GT2876 or GT3076, the first one will be more difficult to get the desired power, but should spool up really nicely and the GT3076 with a .63 Tial V band exhaust housing shouldn't be too bad and should hit my target (hopefully)

Is your airfilter still in the original place? There doesn't seem to be enough space to run a straight pipe from above the intercooler to plenum and still have the airbox/filter in the wing area.

I have removed the filter box. I have a free filter next to Intercooler. If you see the second pic of my signature you will see a hole in the bumber. This is the ram air taking fresh cold air to the turbo

I would be more worried about the size and shape of that intercooler - it's terrible.

what would you suggest for 155?
I thought that it was very good!!!

I am very pleased with this Intercooler. I have no lag and I have cold enough air to the inlet manifold.

mpampis - are you using an external wastegate with your t3/t4?

mpampis_
27-12-11, 22:37
Yes. I modify my tubular manifold for external wastegate. I will put pictures tomorrow
