As I was driving through town today, I came across something that I thought only happened in 1960's comedies:

I was sat at some traffic lights for some roadworks today. As the lights went green and I moved towards the large hole in the road, there was a guy working in the bottom of the hole with only his head and shoulders above road level.

Getting close to the hole, all of a sudden there was a huge jet of water came spurting out of the hole. Cue frantic running around by the workmen outside of the hole as the one in the hole got drenched.

He was obviously working close to the water mains and had cracked it one. Funniest thing I've seen in a while and something I thought only happened in films.

He didn't rise out of the hole on a stream of water then?

Exactly !!

He didn't quite rise up on a jet of water, but it was a classic WTF moment for the guys working there.

On a similar note, I had a classic silent comedy moment yesterday.

I need to get the inlet manifold off the GTV, which means draining down the cooling system a little. May as well take the opportunity to get the rad and fan out, check it over etc.

So bucket under the bottom hose, loosen clip and pull off. Water drains down straight into the bucket.

Head under the bonnet undoing the nuts that hold on the manifold, look up and realize there is a lot of water on the floor of the garage.

Double check the water is going into the bucket, yep draining in nicely, check bucket isn't full. Nope, because its got a bloody great hole in it. Bugger!
