Any reason V6 springs wont fit and work on a Q4? From the workshop manuals, the differences are close to none (0,1mm) and those variations are also found within the V6 versions as well.

I've always wondered about this given the shared nature of the 155 suspension. No reason why they shouldn't fit but I guess its a question of what the ratings of the springs are.

My brother has a V6 with electronic shocks, and the springs are exactly the same as my Q4 springs.

Just to give you guys some data, ive gotten the specifications for the springs from the workshop manuals. In the attached picture, you fint the Q4 data on top and the different V6 data at the bottom. Not much difference if you ask me.

Looks to me that the later version of the V6 with Air-con has the same springs as the Q4 from those figures.

Anyone know off the top of their heads what the weight of the V6 is compared to the Q4 motor?

When you buy springs for the V6, you only specify V6, and are not given a choice about AC or not. So for all practical matters, they use the same springs....?

And, another question. If I choose to ditch the original dampers and go for an aftermarket solution, is there a way to make the dashboard warning light permanently black out?

Arright, sounds like a simple solution.

Btw; anyone know what the permitted axle weights are for the Q4? The V6 has 965/965kg, but I cant find the Q4 weights anywhere!

Been a while since I've been behind the dashboard, but it might just be a case of removing one of the bulbs.

Aftermarket springs will be the same for sure.

The difference between the factory springs will be unnoticeable. Although one uses wire 0.1mm thicker (higher rate) It's also slightly longer which will reduce the rate. It's possible one superceeded the other for some reason but they have the same rate.

So, what you are saying, are that the V6 springs will fit and work well with the Q4? :new:

Edit: Found that Spidan makes standard springs for the Q4, and they use the same springs for the V6 (See attachment)
So, I would be safe buying V6 lowering springs for my Q4...?

I'm saying the springs on that chart can be interchanged and you will not notice any difference.

Allright. Problem now is, that if I use V6 springs it wont get approved at the MOT, because the TUV papers state that the springs are for the V6, not the Q4.

My alternatives are as follows;
1. TUV approved springs and bilstein shocks. Problem is that they lower 50mm, and that is too much for me. Im thinking 20-30mm
2. Coilovers. Have found these for about 600 euro. TUV appproved.
3. Standard springs, and Bilstein shocks.
4. Standard springs, and "renovated" electronic shocks.

What Id really like, is 30mm lowering and the electronic shocks, but i am afraid they are too old. They have covered 200k km.

They check that for a MOT?

You have a MOT in Norway? I thought that was a British thing?

It varies, but if youre unlucky they check for it :(

We have to, its an EU thing, although we're not a member of the EU.

Will they only check the papers if the shocks\springs look new? Maybe put the new ones on right after an MOT, then they will look less new by the time you get round to the next?

Not condoning this method, but it is not unknown for the Land Rover set to go offroading before an MOT. Makes the tester less inclined to go poking around underneath.
