I have owned alfa 155 v6 for several years and I am very pleased, I love that car!
I decided to improve performance than I put the 3.0 24v engine from 164 into 155. Car sounds great and is very wild on road. 230+ hp on front wheel drive is not entertainly, car goes left, right, is completely unpredictable...

I got an interesting offer for a car 15 days ago, that I couldn't dismiss. Q4.
I think series 2 because I haven't seen bottle for waterspray anywhere...

Hi Milos, interesting looking V6 you've got there, bet it is a handful in the wet. Did you get the Q4? The easiest way of telling if it is a Series 2 is to look at the headrests and door pockets. If they are solid its a series 2. If the door pockets have slashes in then its a series 1.

My v6 is 92'. I have changed steering column (I got one from ts 95'+) instead of 3 laps now have 2, I threw abs because I don't like electrical assistance and only add weight the car! :) I also threw air conditioner with instalation and oil cooler...

I also put stronger clutch, donate from 164 (not push, just pull) than must change and support for clutch cylinder.
Gearbox is stayed original from 155 - short transmission.
Later, I put visco couplung from lancia kappa v6, small remake, just one shallow exhaust manifold from kappa.

So was it a fairly straightforward swap or did you need to make up many items? Also why ditch the oil cooler, I thought it would be far enough out of the way tucked in front of the wheel.

Just curious.

I'd love to do the swap into a 75 myself, but there are too many cars on the drive as it is.

@steve, yes I bought q4, I took injectors to clean until it's replace belt & belt tensioner, oil, filters, etc.)
Maybe I'm wrong about oil cooler, but now too late to add... Now I will have fun with q4! :)

Not much modification, I needed water distribution from 166/156/kappa 24v near the gearbox, oil intake pipe from 155v6, oil sump from 155v6, I had to make new supports for battery charger and steering pump then I put the belt of chrysler. I moved the battery to the trunk which enabled more space under the hood + 50 kg lighter front of the car (clima with instalation + abs + oil cooler + battery) maybe I forget something...

Hmm you might be pushing it with 9" wide wheels, I'm running 7.5" wide and they pretty much fill the arches (on a skinny car) . It will all depend on what offset the wheels are, which spacers you fit and of course what tyres you go for.

You might get away with the wheels fitted with slightly 'stretched' tyres. You know the way they like them in the Euro VW scene.

Obviously not suggesting as extreme as this, but gives you the idea of fitting a narrower tyre to a wider wheel.

Infact Toyo have got a 225/40 R16 tyre listed as fitting to a 9" rim

You could always get over any inner rim clearance issues by using thicker spacers. Just make sure they come with the correct locating rings.

Take a look here : Wheel offset calculator (http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp) It lets you put in your current and new wheel diameters to see how they are different.

I am running Compomotive 16x8" in ET30 with 220mm tyre width. This works without spacers in a skinny - BUT only just..

I would really like to use 17x8" with 240mm wide rubber, but they will not fit under the standard guards..

Is it possible to purchase the wide-body front guards?

You mean the body panels (wings)? There must be loads of red ones in the UK but as usual getting them to to will be a challenge :lol:

My hobby are alu wheels! :)

I'm running 17 x 7.5 with ET 20 and outer position is on the limit, sometimes scratching over the tyre (195/45)

By this, maximum spacer to fit new wheels without outer problems would be cca 8mm, than inner clearance would be 41 instead of 49...

I don't have enough inner space...

Only just like Jim suggested, wider panels and thicker spacers...
