My 155....

V6 Widebody
Full respray 6 months ago
Full 20v brake setup: hubs, Brembos, rear calipers, custom TREs, new pads and big discs
Rare 4x98 Compomotive MOs, recently refurbed. 7x17 ET27
15mm rear hubcentric spacers and rolled arches
Autodelta chip
Custom Stainless exhaust with lifetime guarantee (sounds amazing!)
Pi -40mm springs
Silverstone Spoiler and Jacking kit
Mac splitter
JVC DVD headunit
Team Heko Wind deflectors
Euro pressed plates
2x brand new tyres (yesterday!)
2x very good tyres
MOT Jan 2011
Tax for a few months

Over the two years I've owned it no expense has been spared. It has had any faults immediately dealt with at all times, parts renewed include fuel pump, new wiper motor, various bushes, wishbones, rear axle camber issues sorted, timing belt, PAS pulley, new ignition leads, new clutch just fitted, both CV joints renewed, box replaced, swivelling and working electric mirrors fitted, new badge, new heart, new windscreen fitted.... etc etc, probably much more I can't remember!

Here's a few pix of it on the move.
Please bear in mind that it was fully laden and accelerating here and usually sits perfectly level. Also it's manky here, and it does look a much deeper factory original red in normal light too!

Are you still interessted in a Q4? Mine needs a "loving hand", wich means, that it needs a stay at the shop! There is some rost all over, but mechanical in ok shape. Full leather Recaro seats, yellow koni suspension. The car is from 94, and has covered app. 200.000 km. Different kinds of red ;-)

My WB Q4 is probably for sale in a few weeks.
Won't be cheap, but very well looked after. Many spare part. I only don't want another car in exchange. As i already bought a replacement. (V70R) I will get the new car in about 2 weeks.

Q4 wb 1995, 172.000km, i had it since 69.000 km and for 9 years. 250HP/400Nm on conservative rollingroads, wich is 10HP more than a 156GTA will do on the same RR.
Squadra chip, custom airfilter, D2 dampers and springs front, at the back D2 dampers+eibach lowering springs. Yellow koni available with standard springs + the front eibach lowering spring.
Brembo BBK aftermarket, so not the 166/gta version wich goes wobly after some use. (1300 euro option, recently fitted.)
Standard brakes available.
Aircon and sunroof fitted. Tow hook, removable.
Freshly balanced drive shaft to the rear, new mounting fitted to support the drive shaft.
500Nm clutch fitted from walkers.
Recently changed one inlet camshaft wich was worn, and most seals of the engine wich were hardened out over the years. Exhaust is custom made stainless steel, with all 3 catalyst still in place.

Car is very well maintained, but the body has some signs of wear, as i use it to move the family.

Not selling because of problems, but because the family likes some extra comfort.

Yes I'm still interested in buying one.

155q4-dk, do you have photos? What price are you wanting for the car?

Jan, I'll have a look at your advert in detail although it may be more expensive than I can budget for!

Cool, didn't know that!
You didn't happen to fit forged Integrale pistons while you were in there did you?

Ade, if you have budget for a Q4, you need either budget to pay for the first few services, or buy one that's in pristine condition. I wouldn't rule out Jan's car, just because of the price of purchase.

Interesting read there! Looked like a lot of work went into that!

Whizzman... no way I could afford that much extra. Not least without a long time saving, and it would be sold by then!

Best keep a daily driver next to your Q4 then. It will be out for repair every once in a while and parts can be hard to get.

Doesn't sound much different to my previous 155 experiences though!

The Q4 is worse. Even more operations require the engine out and much more parts are NLA.

How much labour time/cost is usually involved in a timing belt getting done would you say?

No more than a 2.0 TS 16v...nothing too special to it - no cam locks required either :) Maybe ?300 all in.....there is a timing, balancer, alternator, air con belts + another belt that runs off the air con pump to drive the power steering.

Also, you might consider the water pump which I think is around the ?80 mark.

Cool, cheers for that.

Changing a clutch can be difficult tho. The same applies for several other jobs on the gear box. The planet wheels are a known weak spot. Try getting a simple thermostat. ECU errors are harder to diagnose because the ECU has no failure memory. Cams tend to wear more than on the twinsparks, probably at least as bad as on the V6. Even when maintained well, engines do blow up. Just look around and see how many people have a Q4 as a daily and how many are actually on the road. Lots are in various stages of repair or restoration, but not a lot get run daily. I'm not saying it can't be done, but don't expect it to be cheap or easy.

So what bits are typically hard to get or are no longer available?

AlfaJack
18-08-10, 21:30
Thermostat is a pain but a Fiat Coupe one can be made to fit....can't quite remember how though.

I can't imagine too many bits are that hard to get given that engine is shared across so many cars. The drive train might be another story though but I wonder if bits can be had from the Delta Integrale - given it's much bigger availability and following people may be making parts for them.

Thermostat is a 16V NA fiat coupe thermostat with an extra hole threaded in. M16*1.5. Replace the nice T-shaped coolant hose behind the block, if you are bored. I'm sure there will be many more parts that are not available anymore that nobody here has run into yet. Of course that applies to the V6 155 as well, or the 8V twinspark. At least there are still plenty of those on the road and in the salvage yards, so getting used parts isn't that hard. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy one. I'm just warning you you need a deep wallet and patience every once in a while.

Sounds very similar to V6 155 ownership..... but with more bits to possibly go wrong

Is there a handy Integrale forum on the go? Could be useful.

Fiat Coupe forum is a better bet in my experience http://www.fccuk.org/forum/ The main Lancia forum is a nasty format http://login.prospero.com/dir-login/index.asp?webtag=evoforum&lgnDST=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.delphiforums.com%2Fevof orum

Timing belt is an easy enough job as mentioned, exhaust cam wear can be quite bad, transmission is pretty solid though. Main problem is going to be rust...I believe the car you're looking at is pretty rust free so that's half your battle. :)
