This weekend, at Phillip Island raceway here in Victoria, Australia we are holding a 2 day ALFA ONLY race meeting. We have 165 Alfa's entered, but you guessed it - only one 155 Q4! My aim is to have the fastest lap of the weekend of any of the Alfas there. That may prove difficult!

You can follow my progress here to see if i am managing it or not! on

I am driving there today - its 300km from my house - and the competition is on Saturday and Sunday. I think I have all the technical issues with the car sorted, so it should be fun. Here is a pic of the car ready to go!

Well, I did actually set the fastest single lap time of any car - so I was happy with that. I have run into some minor technical issues.

1. The clutch lets go in 4th at 1.5bar+ especially when the intake air temp is low, causing me to have to limit boost to 1.4 bar.

2. I have an oil leak of some sort, maybe rear main seal, that is putting too much oil onto the underside of the engine/car. hmmmmm.

here are two vids that I made from yesterday

the first one I call "off the speedo'' made with my usual camera. click on the actual video then select 720p to watch it in HD mode.

the second is a HD vid made with a videopro Hero camera. I messed the sound up so I have substituted something else! Click on the video so that it opens in its own window.

Love that first video, really good. How on earth do you do the track map overlay and other bits?

Jack, I collect the data with a race-technology DL-1. I take the video as a separate process with a digital video camera. Then you export the data and the video to another program called - Trackvision 2.1 - that creates the gauges and overlays another video (of the gauges) onto the original. It only takes a few minutes when you get the hang of it. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

I'm glad you've made it, Jim. You certainly deserve that satisfaction after all efforts. Congratulations and keep it that way.

Greatings,
Cristian.

A brief 15 second video of my 155 Q4 entering turn 14 at Phillip Island on Sunday - taken from trackside - I don't know by whom however!

Briljant Jim!

Feel sorry for the other guys thinking they were pretty fast.

Looked like you hit 230 on the strait.
